Quote:
U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and FBI Director Robert Mueller on Friday urged telecommunications officials to record their customers' Internet activities, CNET News.com has learned.
In a private meeting with industry representatives, Gonzales, Mueller and other senior members of the Justice Department said Internet service providers should retain subscriber information and network data for two years, according to two sources familiar with the discussion who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The closed-door meeting at the Justice Department, which Gonzales had requested, according to the sources, comes as the idea of legally mandated data retention has become popular on Capitol Hill and inside the Bush administration.
Privacy advocates have been alarmed by the idea of legally mandated data retention, saying that, while child exploitation may be the justification today, those records would be available in all kinds of criminal and civil suits--including terrorism, tax evasion, drug, and even divorce cases.
Hardly a day goes by anymore without Big Brother trying to take away our freedoms or invading our privacy.

From a technical standpoint, it is worrysome as well. What happens when a storage device fails? Idiot politicians, all of them.

Hmmm... the title of this post gave me an idea. Since the US government wants to track people so much, I figure they probably want to know what we eat as well. When a biologist wants to know what a wild animal is eating, they study the animal's waste. Lets all help the government track what we eat by sending them all of our shit. That right! Box it up, and mail it to the whitehouse, COD of course. No more hiding behind privacy laws. No more forcing the president to break the law. Be patriot and help the government out. Send you shit to Bush today!

Nuff said. There's nothing the citizens can do anymore. The government has become too powerful.
I still look at it like this: One man goes to a police station and smokes a bowl, the police will arrest him. If all men go to that police station and smoke, the police cannot do anything, unless they arrest all people. If all people are arrested, who will pay the police to protect them?
-------------------- I don't think for myself. I think as though I'm explaining my thoughts to someone else. I'm concerned only for those listening.
