This isn't targeted at anyone in particular but rather to whom it may concern because most sponsors are Awesome and totally reliable, that being said-

Lately it seems that SOME sponsors feel that they have the option to wait weeks to ship out orders. Perhaps its because this is just a msg board or because certain aspects of mushroom cultivation are frowned upon, I don't know...

But what i do know is this. As a business, you have a responsibility to your customer to get their order to them ASAP and if not, they should be informed of any mishaps or holdups immediately. I for one, dont buy the whole USPS "lost it" excuse and I've never heard that used by a business except around here.

If prompt shipping is too much to ask, then I'm sure somebody else will be along shortly to provide alternate products to your customers. Excuses are BS and they really have no room in business transactions!

He presents a good point. Understood: these people are people and need time in certain circumstances. But that does not take away from the fact that they run businesses and should be responsible for shipping a product in a certain amount of time.


And he is right, I have *never* had people telling me that something was shipped and USPS lost it except on here (and *once* on eBay). In fact, another shroomerite had the gall to tell me that each of the 3 or so times he supposedly shipped something, it was lost in the mail(I'll be damned, quit a co-winky-dink).

I guess I kind of just vented a little, too.

Like I said, you present an excellent point.

So, what do you guys feel is an appropriate shipping time?

For all the different products the Shroomery has to offer. Lets say:

A. 1 spore syringe

B. 4 spore syringes

C. Subtsrate jars/ rye grains jars/ etc etc

spore syringes should ship 2-3 business days jars and subs 3-5 business days would be the average I think. I have no problem myself if a vendor takes longer to produce a product due to the unique nature of the hobby. I think the big problem and what leads to the most complaints is lack of communication from vendors to customers there is no excuse for this. If a vendor has a problem getting something out beyond a reasonable time they should immediately let the customer know and give them options, thats just good business practice.

I would very pleased and a loyal customer to a sponsor who could process an order in 48 hours. It seems in this business the real problem is a lack of communication between the vendor and customer when an order may be delayed. I have no problem waiting, if someone would simply return an email within 24/48 hours to inform me of the updated time line. Waiting a week for an update or to be told your order will be delayed is asinine. I think most here are not looking for lightening fast service, rather, we are looking for excellent communication. I understand that vendors may receive hundreds of emails daily. How hard would it be to simply email those with problems first, then send out emails on shipped items and then answer all the dumba** questions customers may have last?
Also, I believe, it would serve Shroomery members well to build a rapport with particular sponsors, rather than simply picking the best deal. I developed a great relationship with Clay, a vendor here, and always received an email within hours, and yes I do know exactly whats going on with Mycoshack, because I developed that relationship, rather than always shopping for the lowest price, or bulk deal... I get more freebies and the inside scoop as to my orders because I got to know my vendor. If the vendors/sponsors increased communication, and if the members here would get to know their vendors, I think everyone would be happier and most important, more productive. My rant ....douchebag :grin:

These are certainly great points! There are probably a few things that need discussion. At Sporeworks we've always made a special effort to ship orders as quickly as possible (usually same day, or within 48 hours). We've also made it a priority to stay in contact with our customers every step of the way, informing them of potential backlogs ASAP, updates in order status, and tracking confirmation when the package is in transit.

It's worth pointing out, though, that SOMETIMES things actually do get lost in the mail. With the volume of shipping we handle, it's understandable (but not acceptable) that occassionally a parcel or two will end up missing or shuffled along the way. UPS has always been good about this, admitting and paying for their mistakes when packages are lost or damaged, however it's a different story with the postal service. Missing mail does happen, but certainly not as often as some people claim.

In addition, communication between merchant and customer can only be accomplished when the customer leaves proper contact information with the merchant. In other words, double check to ensure your email address is correct on your order form. Ensure this email doesn't super aggressively block spam, as many emails from vendors are automatically generated by servers and may be erroneously blocked. Include a phone number (cell phone) when going through your checkout.

As a final point, I think it's important that if you sell a product with finishing "lead time," then the customer must be made aware UP FRONT about this lead time delay. At Sporeworks we ALWAYS place a note in product descriptions when particular products may take additional time to ship (this is usually to ensure freshness of living culture material). Our pages always inform the customer prior to purchase if they are to expect a wait on items like culture slants, plug spawn, prepared mediums, ect.

As a customer I understand that most online business can't ship orders same day. I usually keep this in mind when dealing with "small" online business. Spore vendors and many other online merchants do not have the shipping resources of Amazon. However, even with small business, an "in stock" order should ship within 2-3 business days.

It is also a good idea to pay attention to the day on which you are ordering the product. Most businesses do not ship on weekends (as UPS and FedEx do not do pickups these days). Mondays tend to be a bit busy from orders placed over the weekend. Requesting "Next Day Air" service on an order placed at 2pm, may not be realistic in expecting your package to actually arrive "next day," ect.

You can enter your order number from anyone of our websites and read updates on the progress of your package. Its a great option that is easy for the company and the customer. Does anyone use it? No. Customers want to be responded to by an actual human being and I can understand that but it defeats the purpose.

I can't tell you how many emails we get from customers saying, "Where's my stuff?" and they have provided absolutely no identification for us to track their order. Then we have to have at least two more emails figuring the issue out.

At our company, we have 1 person answering emails and processing orders and another shipping them. It can be completely chaotic at times with the volume of emails and orders that come in. I think that when a company is moving that much product, it is unreal to ask them to contact every single order that they think might be late. That would add extra time and resources just to pat the head of a customer who is may be - impatient. And b/c of that impatience, everyone's order is slowed down.

Sporeworks is right - This isn't Amazon.com. There is usually 1 - 2 people putting together hundreds of orders a week for one single company.

i like how spores 101 had the one week or it's free deal. i'll tell you what everytime i ordered it was here in a week. i noticed that that is not still going on, or i can't find it on the site.

one way or another 1 week to 10 days is a great time estimate for orders. i've sent prints to thailand that made it there in 10 days so there really is no reason for any further delays other than clearing a check or something similar.

i surely know
you are 100% accurate on that,
i get that too, at mycro.
and that's not the worst of it,
get people sending money but no order or no address,
people saying they're sending money
but it never comes still you gotta check the po box
every day to be sure,
etc.
it's a circus doing business with a bunch of stoners.

I agree with douchebag on the part about building a relationship with a sponser. I dont mind paying more if I can count on them and they will communicate with me. I will take loyalaty over money anyday. I am also the type of person that will send as much biz to the sponser I am getting my stuff through. I do understand that crap happens but if it becomes a trend then you should look other places. just my two cents

I agree totally...

Here is my view on this...

I ship as fast as possible...always did.
Normally orders get there in a week.
I do my best.

This ships fast stuff..is not what I'm totally about.
The customer should plan...as with anything in life.

I have seen posts here that say...so and so sent me a non viable syringe..
Then 2 or 3 others said the same thing in that post...
Another said...well, they took care of me quick..thats service...

I'm not that way....
I make every syringe seperately...when you order.
I can take short cuts...I know how...but I dont.
I will take the time needed to make your syringe a quality syringe.
I will not rush....
If you want a vendor thats more worried about speedy delivery time...thats not me.
I dont want to replace non-viable syringes...
That means I have to ship twice.

When you get a syringe from RalphstersSpores...you can be assured your syringe is "good."

I am fast....but my concern, and this is what I am known for,is QUALITY.

Do a little planning..prepare yourself..order from a good vendor...get a viable syringe the first time.

Thats how I see it.
When I make your syringe...I made ya a good one.

And, if you EVER have ANY problems...contact me.

I would like to say this (and this being my first post) ...

I ordered the Thailand special 3-pack from lilshopofspores on tuesday of this week. I received my order today (saturday). I haven't ordered spores in over three years (back when you could get a syringe or a print for $10!). Since 2002, I always went through lilshop and have never had a bad syringe/print and I've always gotten my order within less than a week! All in all, probably only about 5 orders total, but never a problem. If you guys are miffed about other vendors taking too long, give lilshop a try. Never failed me at all.

I'm just getting back into the swing of things and I'll report back later on these spores ... but I'm certainly off to a great start.
