yes indeed. nor cal fo sho. so you really think i finnaly found some actives or no? i need as mush input as possible. there are liek tons of these around. if you have yahoo i can show you them on my webcam with much better clarity.

ah no, Stropharia riparia is not active, but yeah, there are tons of these things all over the place right now...See the MSSF website on these > http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Stropharia_riparia.html

pictures are too blurry on the close.....you do have the correct spore color you want to be looking for.....thats called purple brown though not all mushrooms that have that color are the neccessarily the ones your looking for..........the other color to look for is black as in Panaeolus......which dont always blue when active......not all black spored mushrooms are Panaeolus.....the ones you have are probably Stropharia......the way to tell if you have mushrooms in that group which are active.....they will bruise blue.....if they dont you dont want to eat them......not all mushrooms that turn blue are active though.......Edit: if I didnt see tht purple spore color or if color off from getting from camera to the screen.....also very possible Agrocybe.

also, stropharia ambigua...It's pretty closely related, and this site mentions that it grows like weeds all over the Cal coastal areas >

I'm not sure what they are, but I'm 110% sure that they're not active. Possibly poisonous. Toss them.

umm yeahhhh.....my friend ate like 2 stems and a cap. a small one. like i didnt think he'd do it cuz he was sayin he wanted to try. and i told him that they might kill him. he did it and now were scared. whjat we do?

Eating an unidentified mushroom is just retarded. Why the hell would you let someone do that?

Luckly, your mushrooms don't look deadly. Keep an eye out for usual mushroom poisoning symtoms. If your friend starts vomiting, sweating, shaking, or having diarrhea... get him to the hosptial IMMEDIATELY. Poisonous mushrooms cause the liver and kidneys to fail. He might need a transplant. Horrible news. Never EVER eat an unidentified mushroom. EVER.

Probably not but he still might be in for the ride of his life. Some mushrooms you feel like shit so much you would rather be dead. Be we have no idea what those are so it could have been just something non poisones but non edible.
