Who here hates politics?

I personally can't stand politics. I think it takes away from other, more fascinating pursuits in life,but alas it is a necessary evil. I don't really enjoy posting in this forum,I just feel like it's necessary to become educated on the subject and to hear other's viewpoints.

I know many in here actually enjoy politics and related fields,and there's certainly nothing wrong with that,but does anybody else feel the way I do?

Can you be any more specific? Were you a mayor or something? Or would you rather not divulge this info?

My grandfather was a mayor in a beach town in New Jersey. He was an environmentalist in the late fifties-early sixties before it was trendy. A giant chemical/pharm company,Ciba-Geigy,was dumping all kinds of shit in the water.He took them to court on numerous occasions (which made him grow broke),but Ciba employed about half the town and was paying the legal system,so nobody really listened to him.Ciba kept dumping and nothing really happened to them until the early 90's. My grandfather died of some rare form of cancer that may have had something to the carcinogens they were dumping. I've been bitter about politics from a very early age partly because of this.

I can't really say because I am still intimately involved in a different capacity.  But it was on the local level, yes.  I liked being a politician because I enjoyed making positive change but it gets to you after a while.

The thing I hate the most is the fucking power-tripping.  People with HUGE fucking egos and evil to the core.  Of course you find those everywhere but the ones like that in politics are exceptionally evil.

They are:

"Bottom feeders that suck the teat of human misery."

And believe me, this is something that crosses ALL party lines!  :nonono:

It's fascinating, it's exciting, and it's just plain fucked.

We try and figure out ways to get rid of the power trippers and things just turn out worse.

I'm not sure whether I'd love or hate being a politician.

I enjoy debating politics, because I enjoy debate in general. I don't like a lot of what goes on in politics, tho, but I enjoy taking action to try to change it. I've actually considered going into politics, tho I don't know if a radical left-wing psychedelic user like me could get elected to any sort of office.

I don't even like THINKING about politics but...if we don't watch out for what politicains are doing we WILL get the shaft, so I try and at least stay abreast of whats going on by digging a little deeper than what CNN and Foxnews reports.

Politics is just a battle of egos. I used to really be into it until i realized it's all a load of bullshit. Now i just sit on the sidelines and watch in amusement.

I hate the politicians, especially republicans, but like studying the subject and I like protesting for change, I think it accomplishes awareness and its not about whining and its not about change its about showing people you feel strongly about something and waking them up and hopefully gaining enough support to do something. AFterall this is a government of the people, not a government of a few rich old white men.
