I spent nearly 2 years running around that hell hole.... what the hell makes you think this is a good idea??? I wasn't even there during the current war and there was a real good probability of getting snatched and ransomed. There are armed militias that PAY THE CIVILIANS to inform them of anyone that doesn't live there so they can target those people. Even if your make-up is hollywood superstar good your accent on your rudimentary dialect will give you away in seconds.... then someone who needs to feed their family will point you out to the highest bidder! This shit was going on before the war like crazy! I can't imagine how much worse it is now. There's a very good reason that security firms like Blackwater are making HUGE $$$ over there right now, as even the lowliest Joe Schmuckatelli requires their services to operate. You would be putting yourself in a very very vunerable position doing this, ESPECIALLY since if they do snatch ya and find out your American, you may not get ransomed at all...

War zones aren't fun places to visit. It's not like anything you've ever seen.... living on fear and adrenaline isn't fun. I know from experience.

I think this is a terrible idea.

Regardless of your good intentions, reasons for going, whatever...they HATE Americans. It's not just bullshit media propoganda...they're kidnapping and BEHEADING people who look a lot less American that you do.

Grow a beard, tan, do whatever you will...the fact of the matter is, you don't speak a word of Arabic, and can't even spell Baghdad correctly. You would be putting yourself in some serious danger is you went to the middle east right now.

Jill Carroll, a reporter who was specifically reporting on the plight of the Iraqi people, who spoke fluent Arabic, looked Arabic, and wore a head scarf everywhere she went, was kidnapped and has not been heard from since.

Do yourself and your family and people who care about you a favor, stay away from Iraq, and don't do anything to put yourself in harms way.

Umm...they make lightweight, concealable Level IV bulletproof vests.

Here are the stats from the tests on it:
Sucessfully stopped one round each of:
3006 Armor-Piercing
.30 M2 AP

One round at ~ 2,850 fps
(~869 mps)


well damn, that's immpressive.

but I bet they cost about 5g's.
