The Important Thing To Remember...
    #5074973 -

... is that our entire perspective and understanding of reality, even while benefited by a smoothly operating mind and having nearly nothing obstructing one's direct perceptions of reality, is merely a sense of reality, that reality exists on its own accord and by its own nature, and that we will never be able to know it as it is. No matter how true-to-detail the reflection of reality the mirror which we are is, regardless of how accurately it portrays reality, it is still only a projection, an illusion.

Naturally, it is the only method for some aspect within reality to know, realize, and experience reality. We have a blessed oppurtunity to be, and I think we can take more advantage of presently experiencing this life and being when we take into consideration our illusory nature, as it is the necessary soil that gives rise to our experience, our being, our understanding of reality.

Realizing that it is all a reflection in the mirror reveals an interesting dynamic between the observer and that which is being observed, and I think that it offers freedom to manifest in any manner as we are capable of consciously effecting change, like deciding to stick our tongue out at a mirror and seeing the reflection change accordingly.

Naturally, there is no boundary or distinction between the reflection of reality and that which is reflecting, and that of reality itself. Reality encompasses us all. Reality is not polarized by an unreality. Such brings a certain sense of wholeness to one's sense of being, perhaps? :smirk:

Consciously existing as both polarities and the interaction between these two polarities (this trinity, as it were ) naturally unfolds forth transcendence of the proposed duality into something.... more..... :mushroom2:

Just passive thoughts as I drift away....

The more one understands one's environment, the more one understands who oneself is.

And vice versa, perhaps?

We're the aware focal point of an abstract distinction that does not actually exist, or something. :nut:

Could our "observed", our "illusory reality", also be that which we believe to be ourselves?  And I believe we are more so an illusion than people think I mean.  By that I mean our actions, our emotions, even the rational thoughts that help me write this right now.

Descartes pondered his five senses to be of an illusory quality.  However he mistakenly excluded his mental processes from this illusory quality because he attributed them to some immaterial source.    Now, since we know much of our thought and mental activity to be sourced in the brain, this can now be a source to be doubted.  It may seem that I am jumping to this conclusion through facts that may be doubted because I have seen them in physical reality, but I also know this through emotions that feel almost just as I feel this keyboard.  Also to watch my thought arise and pass, is almost like seeing a train go by.

I think the only thing we can know that we truly are is awareness.  Without awarenes we are nothing.

I'm not sure if you were talking about this or not... Let me know

I think I left some stuff out I meant to say but I'm a sleepy kid.<---- that's a yawn face now

the title of the post that has me mixed up:

what is "the important thing to remember"?
(please keep it very short, since when I am at a loss for memories I can only remember and hang onto a very very simple thing)

is it always important? or when should we remember it?

There's too many important things for me to remember.

How did people remember things before recorded history?
Icelandic Edda's for example- Are they so reduced that they lose much of their significance in the retelling?

Nursery rhymes-Significant wisdoms lost/ or glossed-over in the retelling (unless babies can understand it)

I am glad you reminded me. I had almost forgot.

"A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

Sounds about right to me.

Perhaps the important thing to remember is awareness instead of reality. :smirk:

Oh!  THAT'S what the string around my finger was about.  Thanks for clearing that up for me, FWG.

P.S.  I like to think of this as the "best guess" theory of reality.
