Those who fit your description would likely not be those who are either self-realized nor motivated by your brand of ostentatious aphorism. More likely it would be that such pious tramplings would only harden defenses, and further set the stain of self-delusion we all graple with throughout our entire lives, to varying degrees. You are helping nobody.

I would sooner conclude your prose to be not so much "sharing ideas" as it was "stroking the ego". If pampering your pride has to come at the expense of others, I think any of us would be right and raising our voice. Furthermore, if we must think in terms of some sort of hierarchy, this kind of distended display only places you on par with the same people who've been belittled.

Well, it was basically a lot of things accumulated, but I think it was that sheltering that made him unable to cope with all the rest of the stuff...
The memory of his father's death, the school system, that fucking wife, all the attention from being a rocker..

It'd be like living in a rich family, always cared for and always getting what you wanted, and then dropped into the Army in the middle of war as a common soldier.. quite the shock, I suppose. Never be able to cope, probably be one of the first dead..

Metallica has a song about pretty much the same thing, the sheltering by his parent's.. Dyers Eve, off of ..And Justice For All.

And I have found out that my bass guitar is going to cost like $300 more than the list price on Music123 because of international shipping and the taxes and duties imposed on it (a little less than the price, including shipping, and then an additional 23%). I guess you have to pay for socialism somehow.. (which I am now a member of, as my work permit has been approved and I have a Norwegian social security number..)

I hope this helps with the observations of the people on this forum, giving these crucial details as an insight into my twisted life.. Are you all observing, damn it?!

I've been downloading full Pink Floyd albums.. I've only actually heard Dark Side of the Moon and the Wall before, and I now have Wish You Were Here and Momentary Lapse of Reason, with Echoes (the best of), Ummagumma, and Meddle downloading (and getting a shitty transfer rate, no apparent reason why)... I have also got the Echoes full length instrumental track... even though it isn't all instrumental track, I don't know why Guitar World called it that in their in depth look on Pink Floyd...

I'm sort of curious as to how The Wall, an album about the descent into madness, ever became such a tripping album.. I mean, because of the music, definitely, but the subject matter?

One of my best trips was listening to TOOL's Lateralus.. I think I will turn that into a trip report. Sound fun? No real posts going on right now, so I think I will divulge... I may also post about my EPIC Parahpenlia Charge, and why it is not a good idea to do a bunch of coke and then drink a lot of alchohol (which I very rarely do either of), and then have cop activity in the apartment complex you are in, and then have no judgement skills (because of the alcohol) and decide to venture out five minutes after being spotted in the entrance and flat out running down the stairs, with the intention of going out the back door.. (mind you, these were the same cops that basically followed us back from the party we were at).

Jail has never been more fun!
Peace.

ostentatious aphorism

don't make up words. I know it makes you sound smart, but.. come on.

As for stroking ego over sharing ideas... nope. Stroking ego would be using words like "ostentatious ahporism" sharing ideas would be getting across thoughts efficiently with language understood by a wide variety of people across the internet and keeping their attention with humorous analogies.. an essential skill when you are battling for people's attention against billions of photos of naked women across millions of connected computers spanning the entire globe.

What a funny situation we're in. Why are you championing these people? Can't they speak for themselves? By you posting in this thread as you are, speaking for people incapable of defending themselves you're implying the same hierarchy you condemn me for spelling out.

And the funny thing is, my post has nothing to do with hierarchy. My post is about writing about things and preaching about things you understand. If I jumped in the sciences forum and started talking about quantum physics or any other laws I didn't understand, I'd be one of the people I'm talking about. My post is about knowing yourself and what you have to offer other people on this forum. If you read a new age book about death and the afterlife and came on here telling us what dying's all about, then you'd be a dronebot. If you came on here and talked about what dying's all about because you just died and are on the other side, then you wouldn't be a dronebot.

I hope people can acknowledge whatever expertise they might have and use that knowledge of their self, not the expertise they find, to empower themselves and contribute interesting thoughts to this forum.

Thanks for comin out ped.

infidelGOD: people gravitate towards safer modes of thought

True.

Sclorch: Safe people like thinking safely for safe living.
Gosh durnit... I want safety... and YOU SHOULD TOO!
Here are some new laws that will guarantee all of our safety. I know... you're arguing about freedom now, but you'll be happy later when you're under our security blanket... just wait and see.

Thanks, but I'll sleep on top of the covers.

I sincerely hope I don't have to articulate what a stretch this is. This is a grossly convoluted non-sequitur.

The definition of "dronebot" seems to have decayed to "people who talk about things they don't understand." Well my friend, you're not the first to encounter such people, nor are you the last, nor is this the last place you'll find them. Those who only formally understand what they speak of typically are this way because they are insecure. We've all been in this place before.

Understanding this, it seems to me your thread has served no purpose aside from bolstering yourself at the expense of those insecure. Being that we've all earned your label at some time and in some aspects of our lives, it seems painfully unnecessary to segregate people into such a dishonorable category. Not everyone is as far along as us, and we are not as far along as others. We're all in the same boat here. Everyone has their advantages and disadvantages.

What causes me to pull the reigns on my tongue when speaking to you about this has to do with how insensitive and flat your observations seemed to be. People who fit your description are not people who respond well to blunt criticisms of their character. Your transparent attempt to embarass me suggests that you do not respond well to blunt criticisms of your character. As such, on this and all issues, I'd so much rather see encouragement than an attitude of divisiveness. Perhaps I've been a hypocrite in this respect. How quickly anger clouds our judgement.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but is your attitude not one of divisiveness? Have I misterpreted your approach? If I have, please say so. I certainly don't want to make enemies.
