Territory

Many animals define and aggressively defend territory.

This morning I found out the hard way. I was attacked by a hummingbird defending his (her?) territory.

After replacing the sugar solution on this frosty morning I made the clicking noises that the hummers respond to. No luck right away but it is pretty cold out. Just as I was walking by the feeder the territory defender from out of the east came flying in at top speed. It stopped about 6 inches in front of my left eye and made some warning clicks of it's own while hovering briefly. Then it took off to the west.

Like a small dog, hummers must compensate for their small size with aggression in order to defend their territory.

How much do you defend your territory? Is commune living really possible in the fullest sense of sharing, for instance? Would you let your woman go sleep with your buddy like the hippies and free love and all that?

i'm pretty possesive and jealous when it comes to women....sometimes i don't even like when a friend looks at her in a certain way....

My main problem is with females as well. I've had the same girlfriend for 5 years, yet I am still very on edge when it comes to other guys. As hard as I try, I just can't get over it.

She has cheated on me once, which didn't do much to bolster my trust in her.

I can't take mushrooms due due my stomach condition. :frown: I have a few hits of lucy that I'll be taking soon to have figure out where I am. It should be interesting, since I've never taken it before.

Lucy works well. Especially for this kind of questioning. I suggest doing it alone of course. Just the fact that you want to know may insure your eventual success. Jealousy is pretty common and is a matter of degree at best. No need to beat yourself up over it. Accept yourself unconditionally the way you are. That will open the door for change. Then watch your self talk when you feel jealous, trace the thoughts back to the source, but don't try to change anything. It will take a little practice but isn't that hard. If you do this without trying to change yourself, the changes will come of themselves in my experience.
