by creationism, you mean intelligent design?

it seems like the two could work together.

evolution being the vehicle for creation.

my advice to you (which you dont have to take) is to reply to threads or use the search function and get a feel for this forum before starting new threads of this type.

well, good to finally see some original thinking around here

anyways before this thread gets ugly... let me just say this

theres no reason evolution and creationsism cant work together... there is a reason evolution and say fundamental christianity cant, but thats not the same thing

if a supremely intelligent being created the universe, he didnt create it as a still life where there is no change. he created both the matter and the systems that allow that matter to transform into increasingly complex forms.

god could have created matter as well as the laws of evolution. his plan is revealed over time, through continuous change.

good luck on these forums, btw

your going to need it

Here's my opinion on that subject topic :beatadeadhorse: It's a horse beaten to its miserble death around here. However, some newbs may take the bait to whack at it anyway.

You can't prove a Creator didn't create evolution and you can't prove one did so its an argument that gets no further ahead then where it started from. It just causes a lot of heat and drama and no body gains from it except for those who thrive on heat and drama.

Vatican issues defence of evolution, rejects fundamentalist creationism

The Vatican issued a defence of Darwinian evolution at a news conference Thursday.

In what many are calling a direct attack on the rising support for fundamentalist creationism in America, Cardinal Poupard, head of the Vatican Pontifical Council for Culture, stated that the Genesis description of God's creation of the universe and Darwin's theory of evolution are "perfectly compatible" if the Bible is properly interpreted.

"The fundamentalists want to give a scientific meaning to words that had no scientific aim," he said, and that the point of Genesis is that "the universe didn't make itself and had a creator."

"The faithful should heed modern science and to guard against religion crossing over to fundamentalism if it ignores scientific reasoning."

"Science should also listen to religion. The atomic bomb and cloning are from reason with no ethical or religious link."

When asked directly about intelligent design, Mons. Basti quoted John Paul II, saying that evolution was "more than just a hypothesis."

Perhaps you're being a bit too overt with your atheism, but the ideas you are trying to express are indeed valid.

Experience will show you that arguing with creationists is usually not worth your time.

I advise you to check out some of this man's writing:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Dawkins

"On the advice of his late colleague Stephen Jay Gould, Dawkins refuses to participate in debates with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want with the public; Dawkins argued that creationists "don't mind being beaten in an argument. What matters is that we give them recognition by bothering to argue with them in public.""

You shouldn't argue with creationist, I agree.
You should smile warmly, embrace them tightly, and call them brother.
Considering that a vast majority are also raging homophobes, this should really freak'em the fuck out

Please explain to me why it's hog-wash in your opinion?

Quote:
I dislike evolutionary theory for various reasons, partially because Darwin was wrong

How was Darwin wrong? please elaborate.

Quote:
...among other reasons I dislike evolutioary dogmatism because it is so deceitful in that it claims to be the truth, the theory of everything, which no scientific theory can ever be, nor can they ever be complete and finished.

If it's science it should and does not claim it's the truth. Science does not say anything about the truth of theories. Some people don't understand this, but that's not a reason to say goodbye to evolution.

Assuming that both ideas are total fiction; don't you think evolution is way more elegant and beautiful than creationism?
