What would a music forum be without a thread where people post what they are currently listening to with their media player? (no relation to Windows Media Player)

No, this is not a thread where you talk about how someone else's music sucks and how yours is better...this is just to let everyone know what you're listening to and maybe share great bands with one another...

So I suppose I will start with the 4 songs that are currently on my playlist...

1) Alice in Chains - Angry Chair
2) Submersed - Flicker
3) Killswitch Engage - World Ablaze
4) Modest Mouse - Satin in a Coffin

I highly recommend you folks to listen to Submersed if you enjoy rock/alternative. They are absolutely superb.

And yes, I am an audiophile and I am proud.  :grin:

how does that list make you an audiophile. Generally an audiophile is someone who obsesses over the quality of the music, the fidelity.

I was not proving that I was an audiophile with that post. I was just stating that I was one. I am obsessed with the quality of my music, which is maybe why my entire house is wired with over 300 feet of speaker wire. There is a CD player in every room of this house (including the garage). I've got a 10.1 surround system in the living room right now. I really didn't want to get off topic to prove trivial things such as the fact that I'm an audiophile...but it's too late now.

But regardless, next up for me to listen to is:

Im really not trying to be an asshole, believe me i tried to bite my tongue on this one....
real audiophiles prefer records over CD's anytime. They would also be annoyed at the amount of RF hiss and hum of the 300 foot antennae. I have never seen a 10.1 system, nor have i heard of it. Maybe they exist, but unless you used a spectrum analyzer you would have huge phasing issues with 11 speakers in one room as well as have a really hard time keeping everything audibly balanced and focused.

I don't know who you must think you are to know what "real audiophiles" prefer. You are being to specific when it comes to defining an audiophile. Let me define the world Audiophile for you:

Secret Chiefs 3 is pretty fucking out there, cant stand some of their stuff, some of it i love.

as for "what do magnetic fields sound like?"...

err synthpop?, indie-pop? personally i think music categorizing is bullshit. good music is good music, and this band tends to genre-hop around through styles a bit. Their music's very melodic at any rate.

I can understand what you're saying about categorizing music, but it has to be done...or else you wont be able to decipher different types of music from one another(without listening, of course). One thing I cannot stand is when people say they hate a certain genre of music. It just shows how shallow they are for not just appreciating music as a whole. To tell you the truth, I'm not too big a fan of country music. However, there is a song here and there that sticks out and I can respect that.  :smile:
