TDS is still my favorite. The Fragile is excellent, but it lacks the immediacy and intensity of emotion that the previous albums had, IMO. The lyrics seemed more generic, less evocative. It was good, but I hope he moves past that style to something new; I'm sure he will. This five-year break between albums is trying my patience. The least he could have done is finished the DOOM soundtrack in the mean time.

(5 years)

that seems like a substantial amount of time for growth.

its probably best that way, IMO. Most bands spit out albums too fast, and their music ends up lacking in quality. Or they just put out the same ol' shit.  :smirk:

every time I go through a breakup I always end up listening to Pretty Hate Machine.

but downward spiral was reznor's best, IMO

reason for the drums
soundforge for the voice sample isolation from VHS
I also chopped the whole original song into loops and sped it up from 140bpm to 160 bpm
the arrangement was done in sonar

right now I'm learning how to use logic and ableton live. When i get my midiman oxygen keyboard I will be using these programs to produce some wicked jungle

were you going to get the 2-octave keyboard? i got that, but i ended up buying a radium 49-key keyboard to replace it, so id suggest just getting a 49 key one if you are willing to spend a little bit more

yeah I will eventually get a much nicer keyboard.  But the oxygen 8 is alls I can afford rite now.  Its a lot better than the keyboard I have now, though, which is to say: no keyboard

lol ya its not even funny how much easier music production got when i got my oxy8...programming notes using the mouse is just too painstaking and difficult.

yeah, ease is exactly what I'm looking for.

thats why I quit producing music over a year ago- it was just too painstaking with the mickey mouse equipment i had. Those tracks I posted took like a week apiece, and they're not even all that intricate.

what I hate is having to work on the same idea for a week+, then getting bored with it, and forgetting several accompany parts, and coming up with ideas for new songs while you are still trying to hammer out something else.

I just want to get the ease of production down to the point where I can get ideas down as quick as I can think of them. Otherwise I get bored and frustrated.
