music for getting creative...

hey kids, just wondering what kind of music everyone listens to when they are getting creative. my top plays would have to be... tool, plastikman, haujobb, pink floyd, anything goa trance or ambient. i listen to a lot of other stuff too when i'm getting paint all over myself, but those are the main selections for me. i like stuff that makes good background music but is still engaging when my mind is traveling in and out of what's going on around me...
what about you?

When drawing Peace Orchestra comes to mind right away for that 'background music' you're talking about..very mellow, "worldly" beats that did wonders for my drawing on DXM
Fucked up or not, I usually like to listen to Aphex Twin or Venetian Snares or something like that..maybe scratch DJs like DJ Q-Bert, MixMasterMike etc...sometimes acid jazz, or some jazz without vocals... seemingly random or improvised music is cool. It's got to be something that just holds a tight grip on my focus while not being too contrived or "statement heavy" (ie lyrics) allowing me to become completely immersed, drawing to the rhythem
A good deep, progressive or hard house mix can get me going too.

Hell Yeah, peace orchestra is the shit. if you dig them, check out fila brazilia, or sounds from the ground.
as far as super creative music for me, I put on Tool, Biosphere, Boards of Canada, Sigur Ros, Nine Inch Nails (fragile), maybe some classical too... something i can either get inspiration and ideas from, or something i don't need to pay close attention in order to use that creative energy. although, these all seem to be choices that are best enjoyed by analyzing and immersing yourself into....

Radiohead I listen to a lot while sketching, it usually inspires me to draw some niphty stuff.
Radiohead Travis - a lot also. Sigur Ross Shpongle Pink Floyd Phish is ok, but I usually end up trying to draw these endless ever-deepening patterns.

I'll have to second Shpongle recommendation, no doubt
-------------------- Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.
