The future of the Human Race and Mother Earth

What will the eventual fate of the human race? Will we die tragically in a massive storm engulfing the earth? Will we kill ourselves off with our own nuclear arsenal? Will we keep overpopulating until the earth can no longer sustain us? All of the above?

What will become of Earth? When will all of this happen? Or will it?

Tell me because surely I'm the only one who doesn't know, and I'd really like to... or maybe I wouldn't?

I think we will eventualy seed planets with oxygen producing micro-organisms in preparation for colonization.

Mother Earth then becomes the hub of empire and an idyllic planet to aspire to.

but thanks to quantum immortality the human race will nevertheless live on.

in fact the world was already destroyed once, during the cuban missile crisis. it only so happens that in this universe, all the factors came miraculously together, temporarily extrictating us from our fatal destiny.

in either scenario there will be thoses that live,

in the case of a nuclear holocaust it would be the dumb ass politicant that dropped the bomb in the first plcae....

and in the event of a plague it would be the people that somehow had imunity.

We will die out like many other species of life in the past history of this earth , we are animals , and this is something most people cannot seem to admit , We grow old, we die , we rot , things eat us , things feed off our decay, its life , and it would take a very large explosion to blow this earth apart , something we probobly wont cause , so long as earth does not get totally blown apart, even if we die, there will be something else to survive . We like to think of ourselves as the most advanced life . That we can survive most things . We are due to get trumped -Tranceharper

The Human race will eventually cease to exist. It will either go extinct or evolve into a new species.

I think it's impossible to say what will cause this because there is no single event which will be responsible. I can think of hundreds of ways we humans could either wipe ourselves out or be wiped out...but I highly expect the major events are the ones that no one will think of ahead of time.

What will become of Earth?

It will be swallowed by the Sun in about 5 billion years, for sure. I can think of a few remote possibilities that could destroy the Earth (or at least sterilize it of all life) but they are both very unlikely and essentially unpredictible.

Doesn't evolving into a new species often involve the extinction of the previous species anyway? I mean, homo erectus hung around for a while after homo sapiens and neanderthals came onto the scene, but they eventually went extinct because we outcompeted them for their niche. Similarly, I predict that a new species will descend from homo sapiens, and will coexist with us for a while before they eventually wipe us out.

The human race will continue to grow, advance, understand, and colonize. We aren't dying off anytime soon. We are resilient and will continue to be. We will live on other planets in the future if earth becomes inhabitable. We will live underground if a major cataclysmic event occurs. We will adapt, overcome, and conquer whatever lies in our path.

But hey, maybe thats just me. Maybe it is a direct reflection on how I see myself and those great human beings that have made this earth what it is today. I pity those who view life as hopeless and degenerative. It is probably an inner reflection of themselves. But alas, the strong will carry the weak and the weak will grumble along. But it is the law of the land. As long as humans define greatness and then strive towards it, there will always be hope for survival.

Very inspiring Looner!

Tis true, many have grown complacent if not hopeless. I can't recall how many times I have read at the shroomery alternate views that think humans need to be wiped out. :sad: (Let's be vigilant to insure they never end up in a place of power)

I see the colonization of other planets for us in the future. It won't mean much if the reason we do it is because we trashed this one. It'll be glorious if we can keep this one thriving when that happens.

I remember seeing on the news that some odd 50 U.S. beaches along the East and West Coast are to polluted to safely swim in. How did we let that happen?

I think the products we consume as the result of industry some may assume are being produced with care and regard for the planet, some assume laws are in place to insure that. As long as lobbying is in practice, thats a false assumption to make.

I don;t see nuclear annihilation for human kind. Help the people now who would be so blind as to vote the guy in who would nuke the planet or let him take over a country with nuclear capabilities.

People say no one would destroy themselves along with the planet but look at how many suicidal acts people commit. I think enough are vigilant to keep those with the power to do so in check.

There is a lot to be said for the power of the human spirit and will to persevere and thrive while helping their environments and others to thrive as well. Those numbers right now are the few not the many.

What would it take to shift that scale?

I hope that is what this shift change hub bub is all about and we'll see it through to better and brighter days for everyone.

The spreading of information is important in that goal and vision.

I know people think all of this talk about the "light coming in" sounds like phooey new age crap, yet if you just consider it to be the spreading of information that exposes what is destroying humans and the planet or what could or wishes too and spread information regarding prevention and innovative means to reverse damage done, there is a ton of hope. It takes more then wishful thinking or leaving it to the other guy it takes courage and action and groups working together.

Here is another new agey cliche played out, yet true. "Energy flows where attention goes". Do yourselves and everyone else a favor and focus on what will make humans and the planet thrive instead of putting focus and energy to follow into what will lead to its demise.
And spread the light, I mean "information". :wink:

I am taking a few environmental conservation classes right now and we've watched movies about pollution, erosion, overpopulation, etc.

They make me sick, but even more so to know that I am contributing to all of these forces every day. Blah, I need to take action and so do YOU.

ive been having this conversation with myself, and my housemates.

we can all agree that there is problem(s).
however exactly what they are, is endlessly debated.
the general consensus, is that people need to, become one, so to speak.

if we were all one. we would all have the same problem.
but since we arent, or at least we dont perceive it that way.
it is impossible to agree on "a" problem.

for the most part, people i talk with, agree that, inequity is the greatest problem.
some are poor, born to poor families. some are rich, born to rich families.
but communism has failed(so i hear). and even if not. i still would not trust anyone else to divide my wealth.

so how can equity be atained and freedom still be retained?

my only solution is for everyone to directly aquire what they need for life and happiness, entirely on their own.

this of course, has many potential falts.
there would be nothing preventing a group of people, from forcing a smaller group. or single entity into slavery.

i dont have time to finish this post.

I have thoughts about what will happen....

i don't know why i even think about that stuff...it's like the thoughts were just "placed" there....maybe I'm a prophet(:rofl:).

I see two directions for the human race to go in....good or bad...
good would be...anarchist freedom...where we express ourselves freely and respect one another...
bad is....zombie like race...we are willingly slaves to the economy....and we can not think freely...we are junkies of psychiatric drugs.
