heh? PESA arent pes amazonians - and from what ive heard PESA go alright for a cubie...
And as for PC strain having the same chemical make-up etc, well from experience i can say that there seem to be considerable differences in the effects of spore-races - if you dont believe this, grow and eat lotsa B+, GTs, Lipa Yais and Tasmanian Cubensis and you will come to note at high doses substantially different characteristics. All cubies at low doses are similar, but after eating 25 fresh PCs from birdseed you will notice huge differences in these four spore-races.
As for species - the obvious presence or absense of other psychoactive alkaloids such as aeruginascene, baeocystin, nor-baeocystin and trypotpan play a huge role in the variablility of their psychoactive effects.

CHeers! But how can you not agree - the level and characteristics of cubensis comes down to the isolation of potent / robust fruiting characteristic by vendors - but if PC mushrooms have evolved highly varied fruiting characteristics in terms of visual features, why cant they evolve differing alkaloid/chemical characteristics due to the varied impact of environmental/predatory factors??

Never mind. Just got back from Ron Popeils site thehawkseye.com. Here's what he says about the potency.

I don't know about the names, but I have some older cakes that came from an fsr print labeled pes hawaiian. Overall the visuals weren't the best, but we had incredible tracers from these babies, along with a nice body buzz. Not only that, but my pes cakes have fruited all to be damned!! I'm working on 5th flushes from 3 cakes, 4th flushes from 4 others, and I've only tossed 1 cake from the whole batch. Either these things are fabulous fruiters, or I finally figured out what the f*ck I was doing.

Jammer, the Hawaiin company that originally produced the P.E.S.A. is now out of business. However, many vendors still offer it.

I'm GLAD that there out of business. I once ordered there flyer advertised in High Times... Dam what a mistake!! I remeber seeing prints in there selling for well OVER $100 each!!! I mean, like fuck that. And Pacific Exoctic really knew how to brag up shit too... like there story about the PESA strain.

I've been wondering about the effects of substrate and I don't know if I agree. I have grown really powerful cubensis using the MMGG method with brown rice flour and vermiculite, and noted no appreciable difference growing same strain on rye. (That was the "PF" strain from about 5 years ago--one of the strongest I've ever grown.) Recently I tried growing from a spore print a friend gave me, and this particular strain of cubensis seems pretty weak, whether grown on BRF or Rye...but as I'm measuring potency subjectively (i.e., I'm not using chromatography), I cannot be sure.

Is there any published info on the influence of growth media on potency within a single strain--that is NOT subjective? I would be very interested in finding this out. Thanks.
