Myth about shroom harvest.......

Has anyone else found that it doesn't really matter if you let your shrooms grow a little more after the veil breaks. Me and my friends have found that the potency is not affected enough compared to how much more weight you can get.....and as far as the taste goes....nobody can tell the difference.

Has anyone else found this to be true....?

hmm u actually have a really good point. Do they actually grow a lot after the veil breaks? Ive only seen them turn black, doesnt that mean they are starting to rot.

I think this has already been tested though im sure. I still thinks it's best to pick after the veil breaks.

Yeah, They grow ALOT more. When I do prints I let them get fully open and they put on alot more weight after the veil breaks.

I also thought the reason you picked after the veil breaks is due to the fact that the shroom starts dropping spores after that, which kills off other shrooms.

I guess if it was a lone shroom it would be all good.

The assasin is correct. Don't let spores drop onto the fruiting surface. That signals the mycelium that it's done it's job and inhibits further flushes.

badj's correct also, they do lose potency to weight ratio.

Hey,
Ryche Hawk once said that if you see the
veil starting to tear wait just a few hours and
you get a 30 to 40 percent increase in yield
with out the loss in potency. If i am missquoting
you Ryche please feel free to clear this up.

I believe Ryche was talking about harvesting an entire flush at once and judging harvest time by the most mature shroom in the flush. That's the only way this theory works.

If you don't pick the mushroom when the veil starts to break it will switch to spore mode. Your fruit might be bigger, but your psilocybin and psilocin content won't increase. Why eat more volume of mushroom when you don't have to?

Hmmm, I have never heard this, and it has not been my experience either.

It's a myth. Ryche has said that he can't tell the difference b/w unbroken veil shrooms and fully mature shrooms. And they gain as much as 50-150% in size after the veil breaks.

That seems to be utter b/s about the spo dropping stopping fruiting. Why would the mycelium sto b/c one shroom has dropped spores? The mycelium isn't going to live that much longer after it fruits so why not go all out and drop as many spores as possible?

I have seen straw that is mostly purple from the first flush fruit again.

Can you point me to a publication, where it states that spores droping onto the fruiting surface signal the mycelium that it's done it's job ?

Aborts are MUCH more potent then shroosm with wide open caps.

Mushrooms will put on a lot more weight if you let them go past thier viel breaking. I usually like to pick when they got an umbrella looken caps. Usually like 6-10 hours or so after breakage.
