I could be wrong, but I would like to see the excerpt detailing this. In my experience I have never found this to be true, nor have I heard of this concept. No one is being a lazy skepitcal SOB they just want you to back up your statement. In personal experience I have seen multiple flushes come after spores were dropped so I dont see how it inhibits further flushing.

Yes, I?ve seen this before, but this basicaly say that the thick cover of spores suffocates the casing layer.
You support the claim though, that "spores droping onto the fruiting surface signal the mycelium that it's done it's job".
These are 2 different things.
This "SIGNALING" is a lot of BS if you ask me.

Chill out dude! I read the whole thread and was just trying to be funny; I guess I missed the target. Anyway, I agree with Anno that a heavy coating of spores may interfere with fruiting just because of the bulk of the spore layer, but I doubt the mycelia somehow sense their presence and then stop fruiting because they believe their job is done. Most organisms I'm familiar with naturally continue to produce offspring for as long as they can no matter how many they've successfully produced in the past.

Yeah, whatever. I wish I knew what Anno does on this subject!
I think it'd be quite incredible if this spore covering idea was correct. If you can describe a mechanism by which the mycelia detect the spores and determine by genetic, protein or other analysis that they are its own and not from a competitor colony (in which case I would think they would need to increase fruiting to compete effectively), then just die like salmon after breeding, I'll get on my knees and beg your forgiveness for any doubt I had.
