 Should shrooms touch dessicant

I am about to harvest my shrooms from my mycobags, thanks for the advice guys. I am wondering can you place shrooms directly on the dessicant pellets or do you need to use a screen. in addition I am planning on fanning them at the same time. how long till they are cracker dry?!

Fan them first fot 24 h, then place in an airtight chamber containing desiccant.

You do not want to place them on the desiccant. Use a screen. Desiccant is no consumable. As for fanning them, let the desiccant do its job.
If you open the container that your mushrooms and desiccant is in, the desiccant will not be able to work properly. Instead of drying the mass that is in the container, the desiccant will now be trying to dry the whole room.
It should dry within 48 hours my friend. But you must decide whether you are going to use desiccant or the fan drying method. If you do it both ways, then you are just wasting desiccant.

Fan first, then desiccant. Helps prolong the amount of time before your desiccant becomes saturated.

Both just like anno said.
Fan for 24 hours till they are mostly dry then place in the desicant chamber.
That way it is faster and you save desicant.
I am still on the first box i ever bought doing it this way.

Good idea to fan for maybe a day or so then throw the shrooms in with the dessicsant. But DONT let them sit directly on that stuff. Use a screen or put a baggie of dessicant in with your shrooms in to an air tight jar, leave the baggie open though. Make sure to check the dessicant and change it whne it needs it. Once the shrooms are dry throw them in the freezer or fridge and they should last until you use them. Cracker crisp too.

i fan dry mine then put them on a paper towel that lies directly on the dessicant, i dont think any gets thru the paper towel, plus its easyer to set up..

fan about 36 hrs then put in tuperware on a screen 3" about the desident, air tight close it take it out 4 days later, dont let it touch that stuff
