Dessicant/Silica Question

Ok.... so i found this stuff @ Westlakes called Oil-Dri. It says on the back that it is crystalline silica quartz, used to melt ice and soak up water... will this be sufficient for drying the fungi? Thx for the help.

No i don't think thats gonna do it for you. Go to home depot in the paint section
they sell damp rid. It's recommended to predry under a light shrooms covered with a black t-shirt then finish off with damp-rid. Don't let the shrooms touch this shit.

You could always use just the light but if they're not all the way dry when you store them you'll come back to decomposing shrooms this happened to me once and when i put them away they looked and felt totally dry thats why i finish with damp rid. And if you don't predry you'll go though a lot of damp-rid

The light method works great. You'll want a 60W lightbulb about 7inches away from a thickish black sweatshirt. You can have cracker dry shroomies in 24hours.

Even better (perhaps) is to fan dry for 24-48 hours followed by a dessicant dry for 24-48 hours. A good dessicant to use is silicia gel which can be found in the kitty crystal cat litter.
