trade a quarter for $40 with a friend and buy the american harvest dehydrator. i switched to this and the difference is clear. i have noticed no loss in potencyinf act a foaf fell out in the 7-11 parking lot from my treasure coast just last night. she got up and was ok after a while. i told her not to try my equadors those will straight knock you on your ass......oh yeah. any way cut up for production 4 hors on 95 degrees whole shrooms for the cultivator take a wee bit longer about 6 to 7 hours but you only have to pay for it once unlike dessicant and good luck finding fucking dessicant. vermiculite too but thats another story. $39.99 at yer local walmart its with the toasters n shit. l8r

I have always used a small fan blowing on a screen where the mushrooms sit. They are always dry within 16-24 hours. Been doing it this way for years. It works great.

No problem so far. With the lid on no moisture can get in from the outside, so the only moiture getting in is coming from the shrooms. As long as the shrooms are fan dry, the desiccant stays dry for a good while.
Every now and then I will shake them a bit to loosen them, but they haven't even begun to gloss over yet after drying nearly an ounce. If I see them getting moist, I'll toss `em and put some fresh pellets in.

I'm with influx, I bought a mesh basket at Target and point a fan at it. Within 24 hours they're crispy dry. Stick them in a bag and put them in the freezer until consumption.

Why not try either a box fan with a screen over it (pulling the air down with the shrooms on top)
I saw this on an episode of good eats, and I have been using it ever since. Basically:
Get a box fan get home air conditioner vent filters (no charcoal or anything. just plain filters) that are the size of the fan. Get a couple of them. Lay the fan down, lay a filter on the blowing side of the fan. lay your mushies on there, but dont crowd them. then place another filter, repeat. you can do this with at least 3 filters, and fit a LOT of mushies
then, use bunji (sp?) cords to hold them on. Turn the fan upright, on high, and in 24-36 hours, they are dry.

I set mine on a solid surface, point a fan at em and leave em for a day or two and then bake em in the oven on the lowest heat for one to two hours.

It's magnesium sulfate, but calcium chloride (drierite, damp-rid, etc.), which can be dried through heating as well, isn't dangerous either. Sorry to disappoint, but most things aren't tabun, nor are they the powdered horns of unicorns.
