Some Problems, Negative Visions in My Head
    #4449486 - 07/25/05 04:18 AM (11 years, 11 months ago)

This mainly happens at night or while I'm around things I love, I get these horrible images that pop up in my head. Example- "Me killing my little dog with a butter knife". Its really disturbing, I would NEVER do this I love my dog SOOO much. I'm a very emotional person and just thinking about something that horrible makes me want to fall down and cry. The problem is I cant seem to control them, they repeatedly pop in my mind. Its an uncontrollable projection In my head. Someone help me please, what techniques can I use to get rid of these images? I know its possible anything is possible in the world of imagination.

You have to invite them in your head when they come. Watch your mind when they come up. Don't struggle against it, and don't let yourself feel guilty for having them pop up. I think it's a self hate thing. If you really let yourself feel it, it will burn out and you can release the thought pattern.

This happens to me sometimes too. As tomk said invite and accept the visions as they are and eventually they will be gone. It's one thing to have vision and completely another to act them out.

I'm surprised to hear about this because I used to go through the exact same thing for the longest time. I would imagine myself doing horrible things in any situation. For example I would just imagine myself getting enraged and throwing punches at people, men/women/children it didn't really matter. I guess it was almost as if I had a deep rooted subconscious fear of not being able to control myself. I knew I would never intentionally do these things, but in my visions I could see myself snapping and doing them. It is strange because I did used to have a pretty bad temper, I have never really lost control to the point where I would do something so horrible.

Another strange thing is that these visions have completely stopped within the past few months, coincidentally right when I started using mushrooms. The mushrooms release many latent thoughts within myself every time I use them. Perhaps they have healed some deep mental scar that I was holding onto. Try tripping by yourself and thinking about your life. I prefer doses of around 2g, anything much higher and you are too far gone to really analyze the thoughts.

These last three posts . I also at one time had these kinds of thoughts. They have gone. Tomk may be right about why we have them  Open youself, quit fighting back, just watch them without judgement if possible, you will not have to act on them.  :mushroom2:

They are just random thoughts that are actually quite normal. They can become abnormal when we feel guilt for them. You can't feel anything for them if you don't own them. Don't let yourself become emotional about them. You know you will never act upon them.

Attaching emotion to them involves you further- just let the thoughts pass like a bird flying over head. Don't grasp for it, let it go. Attaching emotional baggage to them only makes them fall to earth and hang around causing problems.

How old are you? My guess is that it is just a teenage, hormonal imbalance phase that you will grow out of.

Now adays we have so much visual and audio input blasting its way into our heads. How can one not have flashes of violent imagination? The society we have created is one where we have to be especially wise about what are the proper thoughts to act upon and what are not the proper thoughts.

As others have suggested, by not fighting the thought, as well as not entertaining it, one will give the thought the least amount of energy. It sounds like you just have an active imagination. And that's all it will be unless you act upon it. So hopefully you have the foresight to not be an agressor or raptor.

I think the fact that you have the self-awareness to consider this shows that you're actually a sensitive person. So just consider all the countless hours we watch TV and read violent things and hear violent sounds. It's a real wonder we all don't just go into catalepsy or just freak out.

None the less, those images still have to go somewhere. They can't just go in and never come back out.

Try writing a crime novel with your imaginings.

I get similar things. When I'm having a one to one chat with someone I can get the urge to pick up an ashtray and smash them in the face with it! Or kiss them! These are totally random thoughts not at all linked to how passionate or disagreeable our conversation might be.

Ps. I'm a chilled guy generally and obv have never done this.

Is this applicable?
