I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the Psylocybin Producer's Guide found at: http://www.shroomery.com/findorgrowthem.php?View=docs&doc=49 and if so, what is its normal success rate? Along with this, what is its difficulty level? I personally don't think it looks that hard if I skip to the "Raising Crop Cultures" part by putting mycelium that has allready colonized in PF tek jars into the PDY Broth. Where can I find Dextrose and Methanol? Would I have to go to a medical supply store, or could I have the same results at a grocery store (or something to that effect) as I would with yeast extract. Also, i'd like to ask everyone's thoughts about psylocin vs psylocybin, and what everyone thinks the differences in potency/experience are. This is because this tek harvests psylocin for production. Thank you for your input! abudiwa

Bumpedy bump bump... I'd like to hear peoples thoughts on cultivating mycelium for psylocin harvesting. It sounds easy, so if I could havest a whole lot of mycelium and extract the psylocin (which seems to be a precursor to psylocybin) I would be so happy. Please give your input, thank you and goodnight. abudiwa has left the thread!

psylocin and psylocybin are for our purposes the same thing with essencaly the same potency. psylocin gets turned into psylocybin in our bodies. But i have heard that harvesing actives compoiunds from liquid culture is not worth the effort , because most liquid media like honey water does not contain enough of the proper nutients for the fugus to produce many alcaloids. so It better o inocculate some jars of rye and just eat that at the least.

I'm using 1 Quart jars of PDY (Potato, Dextrose, and Yeast Extract) broth, I am using a tek that outlines it all very nicely. It seems easy enough, also seems easy to extract. I just can't find Methanol (wood alcohol)... No clue where to find it, apparently too many people cut it with everclear and kill themselves so its hard to get. Any suggestions?

Dried mycelium is quite tasty, unlike the fruit, and I see no purpose for methanol extraction. I have also found that if you let the mycelium grow on the surface you get a much higher yield than with subsurface growth. It is also far easier to dry. A few strips of plastic on the surface of the medium can help keep the mycelium from sinking so don't shake the medium. Let the mycelium float.
