American Harvest food dehydrator
    #4058083 -

instead of building some huge frame to house a fan and trays,
i think i'm going to go with one of these.
the all american of food dehydrators.

just a question (i think i know who'll answer it.)

how many of the trays can you place in the unit before it becomes counter-productive, concerning time?

thanks

I've stacked 12 in there without issue.

12 is about right without slowing the process down any. You can go higher, but it does get slower, the higher you go. I bought several A/Harvesters for $5 or 6 bucks each @ thrift stores. Good machines.

I've read numerous articles and posts about not using heat, am I to assume we've disconnected the heating element on these dehydrators?

Not anyone in this thread. Some do. I dont think its needed.

I dont have an american harvest, its a Mr Coffee I think...12 trays are done in about 24 hours...but the bottom half is usually done in about 12...I remove all that are dry and put back the rest for another 6-12 hours and usually its all dry. Shrooms are spread out so that 1 tray dries to about 1/2 ounce. I'm sure you could stack more too...I only have so much height where I put them though  And I have 3 of the damn dehydrators. Silly me, didnt know I'd only need 1..if I need to dry more though at any point, I know theyre there...just havnt had the need.
