Quick question for yall. I have a friend who is into raw foodism (veganism with only living fruit, seeds, veggies, etc) and he has a specially made dehydrator that never goes beyond the temperature in which food enzymes are killed (if i remember correctly, 118 degrees F.) i have only been able to find the info that dehydrators may if too hot kill shroom potency, but does anyone know specifics about this, ie will this dehydrator work?

The less heat the better. If it has a setting for just fan, use that. Or just use a regular fan for a day or two and then into the dessicant chamber.

Try an American Harvest snackmaster. This model has a variable thermostat. The lowest setting ranges between 105-110 F. I flip the trays over and creat an extra vent to lower the temp even more.
Good luck!

I'm not sure what brand they are, might be American Harvest, but at Walmart they have a dehydrator that you can set the temps in the high 90's. It was pretty cheap too, like $40.

-That is a very good idea.
We have used American Harvester dehydrator & jerkmaker. -It costed way too much money, 40 bucks. -Bought it at walmart. -The temp. on this machine goes as low as 90 degrees F. And 90 is a safe temp. for drying any mushrooms we put in it.
Walmart used to sell ones for 19 dollars, And it fit a whole lot more shrooms in it, And also had raiseable trays to fit yet even more shrooms. -This model however came with a built in heater with no temp. control, -We simply opened up the machine and clipped the heater wire..so just the fan worked. This machine was a beauty.
