Trip movies!

Ok, well I know this topic has been done to death,
but I recently saw 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I had never seen this movie entirely, and never at a more mature age.

We'll let me tell you something, the latter part of this movie IS a trip in itself.

Anyone interested in what tripping is like,  watch this flick and pay attention.  Good stuff  :thumbup:

I'm not suggesting to watch this movie while tripping, but I think that would be one wild ride for all you trip + movie jocks out there!

What other movies out there do you folks know that provoke deep psychedelic thought? (while sober)

ive never tripped but i imagine the wall would be a trip in itself from what ive read peoples face are melted and shit is really weird

When you're tripping well enough, ANYTHING can be trippy.  I was once in a playground on shrooms and there was beach sand on the ground.  In the sand I could see hundreds of faces smiling and chilling out with me. :wexican::hippie: :jamming:

On one trip, there were no smiling faces, there were demons  :devil: playing monkey in the middle with my mind.  :sad:

Anyways about the movies, I'm looking for movies which provoke deep intellectual thought WITHOUT the use of the sacred mushroom.  Alot of the time, all you need is the right book or film.

I watched Jackass for the first time while on a low dose of shrooms. I've never had so much silent laughter in my life.

That's just wrong man. Watching someone go through pain with a head full of shrooms shouldn't be a laughing matter. But..to each his own I guess. I had trouble watching that while being hyper on sugar candy.

Awww cmon... how can I not laugh, it's not like it's done against their will. Except for the mustard... god that was fucking funny, when the guy keeps running back to the car to kick it.

I'd have to say that Secret Window provoked some psychedelic thought.What's weird is that Fight Club did'nt at all.They were both pretty much the same concept.

This topic came up a couple of weeks ago in one of the sections.

Movies most mentioned were Hero and Baraka.

Koyaanisqatsi and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon got a vote or two.

don't kill me but...
Akira followed by Donnie Darko.
So far, i only tried mushrooms once. Some nice p.cubensis from Ice 9 (before they decided to pull them as another seller elsewhere got busted for it). I hadn't eaten anything for about 8 hours. SO i made a couple of sausage butties and added the mushrooms, and a dollop of HP sauce. Delish!
Fired up Akira just as i started eating. First started noticing the effects properly about 20 minutes from the end. Had a few "flash" hallucination moments where i couldn't make out the screen through the visions. It settled a bit until about 5 minutes from the end, those last 5 minutes i couldn't make out the screen at all. WHen it finished, I realised I had awhile to go but, similarly to with alcohol or cannabis, couldn't be arsed to get up and go anywhere or do anything, so I tried to focus for just long enough to put another DVD on. Any DVD. Whichever was the nearest to hand...happened to be Donnie Darko.
Now, I liked DD quite a bit anyway. I know it's become untrendy since it became popular (that age-old law of inverse coolness; the more popular a film is, the less cool it is) but i don't care. Kids can relate to Donnie all they want, or not, doesn't change the fact that it's a great film.
Well, on shrooms, it became...rather alot better. The significance of all sorts of bits i hadn't thought twice about before, was unveiled. Well, i *think* they were. Having experienced it, i find it hard to believe everything i saw anew in it was simply the shrooms and my head. I suspect the director and/or writer has been far cleverer than most fans of DD have come close to realising.
Well, anyway, so that trip was like a semi-religious experience for me. Up until then, i wasn't exactly atheist, but i was hardly what you'd call religious either. I preferred not to think much about that stuff. The shrooms changed that, and they also seem to have slightly altered my thought processes somehow, in that from time to time now i find myself thinking about thigns from a wholly different slant to that which i usually do. Not in a bad way, and not necessarily a much "better" way. just...different.
I can also see how, if you're in a bad state of mind and take them, things can go really badly wrong. The overall tone of the trip is governed by hoe you are feeling. Feel bad = bad trip.

I'll second Waking Life. Fantastic stuff right there.

I like watching Dazed and Confused at the start of summer. Not really a tripping movie, though.

Yea I forgot to mention this one!!  One of my favorite all time movies!

This movie is a trip and a fuckin half... I was so stoned when I saw it :stoned:, but goddamn, at one point I honestly thought I was tripping.  This movie really touched me deeply,  it's one of the only movies that I've had a strong emotional response to.  I downloaded the soundtrack a few days later, and upon hearing the theme music I honestly almost felt like crying!  :laugh:

This movie was quite elightening, on par with a meditative low-dose shroom trip. :eek:

Lol, I remember I liked willow when I was a little kid, I didn't much like it nowadays.  Found it kinda stupid.

Oh yea, The Wizard of Oz!! (or the dark side of Oz for you floyd fans)!!  This movie is fuckin trip aswell!  :tongue2:

Waking Life!!...Ive never seen it tripping btu Ive watched it a few times and even with out shrooms it is the best movie Ive ever seen. I wanna get the sound track to trip to and just to enjoy.
