Microwave Sterilization Does it work? yes look at my jars

i used the microwave sterile tech and thats hit has worked so far and i like it not to many people use it but i think its goin to put the pc on the back burner no one thinks this is affective i do let me kno what you think and if the mycel is growing good i have pics of the jars be4 mycel hit and then when it did colonize

there is no such thing as a wasted spore unless you're knocking up jars that
havent been sterilized in any way... Kultivators work is the same sort of thing
that has managed to get us where we are today in this hobby.

it never hurts for someone else to try, sometimes that unreliability is due to
someone else that doesnt follow the same methods, or they are using a larger
amount of substrate and not increasing the times, if a dozen people try it a dozen
different ways then you'll definately not find it a valid method. if the same
dozen people use the exact same methods, volumes and times, then you'll find
a great deal more accuracy in the technique... unfortunately most people dont
want to risk it or they try adjusting to their particular needs.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

Good luck, and I hope it works.

I've used microwave; but only to re-sterilize media that I had to handle for some reason. The reason I don't trust it: the original microwave tek was moved (by the Shroomery) into the "Questionable Techniques" list of teks that had been unreliable for a lot of people but were still interesting for historical value. That doesn't mean it didn't work for some (or even many).

Psychoslut's right in that it's chancy. Still, a lot of chances work out. I do wish luck and hope it works out for Mr. Vater. (Or may I call you Kul?)

Oh and what a waste it is. 2cc's of spores cost SOOOOOOO much money.

Errr wait, they cost 10 bucks for an unlimited supply.

How do you waste something that you have an unlimited supply of.

Good luck to you! I really have my doubts, and you are no where NEAR out of the water yet..If them jars still dont show contams after another week, I'll be quite impressed! I still wouldnt call it a waste of something thats so easy to create though.

i microwaved 4 containers 1 month ago. 1 is complete colonized and 2 are almost ready. last one needs more time due to one corner of spores not growing. it seems to work for me. we will see after i make rooms in my chamber and fruit them.

I hadnt decided to be nice, Rono warned me to not flame once already today.

Its stupid to waste spore solution, no matter how cheap they are. I think it is a pain in the ass to make prints, and syringes. I do g2g.

LOL...I know you didnt do it on purpose...I mean...that would be just silly :smile:

2cc's of spores is so easy to make...but then again 2cc's of a liquid culture is easier to make and could be used for the same experiment.

By the way, your talking to someone who hasnt made a spore syringe yet..and only 7 prints so far..I'm unsure of how clean they are yet. I just do liquid cultures, TONS of g2g, and some cloning..spore syringes are a pain in the ass to make.
