would you that rye grains-berries would be the best medium for trops and pan. cyan. cambodia?

You can fruit them on straight rye grain, but the resulting shrooms will be very small and difficult to harvest and print. Hundreds of very small shrooms. You would be better off using the rye grain spawn to innoculate jars of Manure based substrates. Do a search through all the posts on Pan cyan and Pan trop's. There are many formulas that work. Do you have access to cow or horse fields? If not just buy some dehydrated manure from a gardening supply store or your local Home depot or Kmart!!!
I use 1 cup manure(From a Field)
1/4 cup rye grass seed (Kmart)
1/4 cup perlite( home depot)
Water content to field capacity. Not to wet not to dry. This quantity depends on the moisture contents of your manure.
There are other formulas around, some even include quantity of water to add.

where is a good place to buy rye grain?

Rye: Do you have a wholefoods or a healthfood store in your locality? Feed stores also carry rye. If you are having great difficulty, PM me...I will send you some.
BTW thanks for that info Teonan. I was grossly unaware that Pans could be fruited on rye.

What about using malted rye grain? This is grain that has been soaked in water to begin germination then dried. This is what most homebrew supply stores carry. I'm not sure whether this would be prone to contamination or not.

they can even be fruited from straight cased rice, though, admittedly, the yields were pathetic..

soak rye for 24 hrs then boil for 30 min to an hour to kill contams. I hope you are not saying rye grain brings small fruits for all shrooms. I have got some massive TC shrooms and lots of them from grain. I have actually found grain to colonize quicker, with less contam. and a more prolific fruiter than BRF. But this is only with cubs and mexicana. I have never tried any of the pans. I get my grain from mycosupply it is only about $12 for about 4 lbs, which can do around 48 half pint jars.

Holy cow. Find a large health food store and have them order it for you. I live in a major city, and get organic rye for $23 for 50 LBS.

Bird seed....as spawn to zoodoo or dung and verm works ok.
Use a little lime and gypsum for airation.
Teonan is right:) as usual:)
Rye dont seem to get it though....not good yields.
Not bad, but nothing like the birdseed.
That damn zoodoo works great....only have 5 pounds left.
Wish they still sold that shit.
