The rock...
    #3792697 -

A fool sees a rock and proclaims it is not a rock but a tree.
A man sees the same rock and proclaims it is indeed a rock.
A wise man sees the very same rock and proclaims There is no rock.

Moral of the story? It should be interesting to see how different answers to this people will come up with. What do you think this story means?

The 'wise man' is an idiot.

Money doesn't grow on trees, but deficits do grow under Bushes.

You can accept, reject, or examine and test any new idea that comes to you. The wise man chooses the third way.

What if the man picks up the rock drops it from a great height on the wise mans head.

Would the wise man still say "There is no rock"? Or would he more likely be unconcious or dead?

That's a good one, although i think the wise man wants everyone to look like a fool, even himself ...

So you are stating that wise men speak subjectively. A dual with words you could say.

So what did the silent man say?

It is better to be silent and thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt.

Its better to find out if you are a fool or not, than remain ignorant of your situation.

The moral of the story is:

A fool sees things that are not there. An average man sees things at face-value perception. But the wise man realizes that things are never what one initially perceives them to be and that none of it really exists or matters.

An example of this in action occurs everyday at this forum. The fools see things that only exist in their imagination in the words and actions of others. The average man sees what is perceived at face-value in the forum and takes things how they seem to be and what seems logical. The wise men here in the forums realize that these words have no real meaning,no real emotion or life and that what may be perceived is likely not real.He also realizes no matter what these words are meant to be, it doesnt really matter. They are just words and all of us are just bits, bauds and bytes.

This story applies to life in general. So sit back, lighten up and dont take each other so seriously.

maybe the wise man sees the rock as a more than just a rock....he sees it as a tool or some useful item.

i have no idea, really.

The rock is one with everything, yes, but it also exsists separetly in it's own purity as a rock. The rock that is one part of the whole.

The wise man can see it as the fool and the average man do, for he knows he is both.
