Cow manure or Horse manure.

Cow manure or Horse manure. Which do you prefer or which one you think is better? Or is there no real difference? I've searched and didn't find anything.

Never tried cow but I've been told by many growers on here that horse is better. Keep in mind that they also said that there isn't a huge difference, but if you can get it, go with horse.

HORSE....is far better....IMHO.

Better texture, nicer smell, more consistant particle size in nuggets.

Most cow manure comes from dairies. Dairy cow feed & cows themselves are loaded up with odd additives, hormones & medications.

Scat......

I have never found a city that didnt have a few horse stables somewhere around. Same goes for their willingness to give to a bucket or truck load full.... FREE.

H/poo stores well in a tote in dry place. Get to looking. Lie, tell them its for Gramma's flower garden.

You will NOT be disapointed.

LOL I dont need to have someone send me horsepoo. Its everywhere here.

I will try cowdung sometime too. There is a natural reserve here with old Cow races (Scottish Highland Cows) who feed on what nature has to offer. Introduced since other big grazers vanished (moose, elk). They are not for meat production, so they are treated WELL.

In the same reserve are also horses, the best horsedung in the area!

what about grain fed beef? most horsed get a couple pounds of sweet feed and
graze the rest of the day. about 1/4 of their diets consist of grains. dairy
and beef cattle generaly are fed about 40% grain, 30% silage and 30% grazed.

I used to go hunting on peoples farms for mushrooms, I always told the farmers
what I was there for, 9 out of 10 times they still allowed me to hunt for them
and many knew the best places to look, I have yet to find one that isnt aware
of psilocybes and what they are.

While they knew the mushrooms were "illegal"?

You know how I envy the situation you live in! (acres of land horses etc...)

most of them had eaten them, several kept me company while I picked....

the messed up thing about my situation, I no longer grow and have plenty of supplies to do it. I do have a friend that still grows and we kick about a few ideas and such, I provide him with a little poo and grains.

horse manure has a much better consistency as cattle process what they eat in a little more intensive way. Horse manure that has aged in a stall can be pasturized and easily crumbled into the perfect substrate. To be honest you can use it in 1/2 pint jars to spawn straw cakes made from a 6 pack cooler and the results will blow your mind
