Fruit size vs. O2, H2O, CO2?
    #371664 - 08/14/01 02:50 AM (23 years, 5 months ago)

Hi guys, has anyone experimented with oxygen vs CO2 levels to try to get bigger fruit?

Or is size related to humidity?

Or perhaps the substrate?

Is there any way to "recharge" substrate by spraying with a nutritional liquid?

I have a casing made of three PFTek cakes growing P Cyans and its pinning like crazy, I count well over *60*! =) Unfortunately I can't sem to get any of them to grow over maybe 5g's wet. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks!

In my experiance,

size is relative to humidity and substrate.

CO2 and O2 only effect pinning and the quality thereof. Increasing either prob. wont help as each species has an ideal amount of air exchanges per hour.

and no, you can't recharge cakes with fertilezer. mushrooms are not plants. But what you can do is use spent cakes to colonize new sets of substrate.

I would love to see what mushrooms would look like in a oxygen rich environment. The air consists of only 20% oxygen the rest is mostly nitrogen. What if someone raised the O2 levels to 50% or 100%. I am pretty sure that a large increase in the O2 levels would have some effect on growth.
