Am i an alcoholic?

To be honest I'm drunk right now.. an lately i have bin considering myself addicted to alcohol, it was last December when i first began having urges for alcohol, after a bad time in my life it helped me feel better, but after my life had gone back on tack i have always felt like an urge for a beer, its not every second but if i go without alcohol for a certain period, about 2-3 days, i get a real strong urge for it. Once i have had a beer or two i feel better and the urge leaves me.

I dont know if I'm a light addict or it just a natural urge for a beer?

.. Anyone help me out

if you really think that you have an addiction and/or it is causing you life problems, then you should seek help to stop doing this.

Try staying away from any alcohol for two weeks.
If you can do it and it`s no big deal, fine.
If you find some excuses why just right now you have to have a drink, you might have a problem.

I could probially stay away from alcohol for 2 weeks if i REALLY wanted too, but the urges make me not want to stay away, it makes me want a beer, and i dont mind that, it donesent cause problems in my life, but i dont want this to be an addiction problem

if it's not broke, don't fix it :wink:sreiously, though, it sounds as if you are fine, man, our minds can trick us sometimes, but this isn't an addiction imho, but i could be wrong.

Take a break from alcohol for a few days to really find out! If you have continuing thoughts about alcohol, thats ok. My philosphy has always been that it requires more will power to do something than to not do something :smile:

Yeah man i was a heavy drinker like 2 weeks ago, same situation, really bad times, became accustomed to drinking, and it went downhill from there. I stopped drinking 2 weeks ago, and havent had any problems since, of course i have thoughts about wanting a drink but they die as quickly as the come. As i realize more and more that abstinance is not only the key, but is full of satisfaction as i realize that people really can have full control over their habbits :smile:

And its easy, just like that. Also i find it helpful instead of always looking at the negative aspects of alochol as supports for not drinking, try to identify the pleasure you find in drinking, observe yourself a little and see if you can really see any pleasure in it
, even if you do drink again keep up this practice and most importantly dont pay any attention to anybody who tries to offer you drink, always politley decline, the more you do the more you strengthen the habbit of doing.

Anyways thats enough from me, im off to bed, goodnight all and goodluck :smile:

The stats on how much you drink or how you feel about it don't even make me worry as much as the fact that you're worried about yourself..I mean, if you have that feeling that you might be addicted to it, you owe it to yourself to not say right away "yes, I am an alcoholic!" but to prove it to yourself that you're not an alcoholic by simply not drinking...man, I'm so stoned right now. I am so addicted to pot. It is sweet. I love it.

how long you been drinking for? I'd say they're just small urges and not quite addiction yet...... like you just have an urge just for a week to drink.... if it keeps up for like an comfortable amount of time, then maybe ur starting to grow an addiction. And then maybe u should worry about it.
