can love be angry?
    #3458825 - 12/07/04 10:38 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I was talking with some christians and they were saying stuff like "music like hardcore metal is evil because it makes people feel angry" and i was like "anger is a totally understandible feeling, that fact that certain kind of music makes you feel angry only proves that music is a great form of expression, maybe there not angry, maybe just passionate? let the kids listen to/play what they want." they went on saying how love can't be angry, I says "read the OT, God gets angry when we sin, and God IS Love, therefore, love can be angry, it's what you're angry at that matters" than they say something like anger is something only God can express, we are sinful humans who have not right to express are emotions or some crap like that.

any thoughts?

fucknuckle, i think this is the part were you come in and say something smart.

Hardcore metal can help angry people be angry, or it can make happy people happy. That's utter bullshit that music is our master, we are our master.

i believe that these people you were talking with are severely repressed individuals who do not understand the concept of emotions. they listen in church without thinking what the words might actually mean, only their surface value. oh well.

yea, fuck them, i dont even listen to metal, i'm just saying every emotion is just as worthy to express in art as the next emotion, i mean if God was the only thing perfect enough to express anger, than surely would'nt he be more so the only one to truly be aloud to express happiness and peacefulness also?

I think are art should be aloud to reflect everthing we feel, even sinful emotions like lust and perversion, aslong as it's not hurting the person seeing it, or I should say aslong as the person that see it is thinking about the painting with his head and not his dick, i think it's fully acceptable.

God can say whatever He wants in scripture. It doesn't make it so.

If I was a Loving God I too would portray myself as somewhat wrathful for the sake establishing some order in the world that I refuse to intervene with.

edit: also, even someone is'nt christian feel free to share your thoughts on what you think is acceptable art and what not, i'm really interested on what other cultures/religions view on this subject is.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
(Whole Chapter: 1 Corinthians 13 In context: 1 Corinthians 13:3-5)

1 Corinthians 13:6
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
(Whole Chapter: 1 Corinthians 13 In context: 1 Corinthians 13:5-7)

1 Corinthians 13:8
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
(Whole Chapter: 1 Corinthians 13 In context: 1 Corinthians 13:7-9)

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
(Whole Chapter: 1 Corinthians 13 In context: 1 Corinthians 13:12-14)

1 Corinthians 14:1
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.
(Whole Chapter: 1 Corinthians 14 In context: 1 Corinthians 14:1-2)

1 Corinthians 16:14
Do everything in love.
(Whole Chapter: 1 Corinthians 16 In context: 1 Corinthians 16:13-15)

OK here is what the Apostile Paul had to say about Love. But what I want to point out is the last scripture. Do everthing In love

Going to get more stuff be back and then I will elaborate

Don't worry God judges no man. A man judges himself through his choices. God did set the rules but he harms no one. Not since the time of Noah and he gave his promise.

Doesn't it seem ridiculous that God has an almost human ego? He feels anger, he feels emotions, he makes people prove themselves to him, he makes promises. Doesn't seem like a God to me as much as a new subconscious archetype

Out of all the trillions of parallel universes, in all the billions of galaxies, in all the billions of suns in this galaxy, in all the billions of worlds, God has an ego like that of a human on this small rock near this average sun. Maybe it's just my ego that would judge that as ridiculous, but to be honest it makes as much sense as having all the trillions of suns in the multiverses resemble a human brain

Judgement doesn't even exist.

People who believe enter the fold of eternal life. People who believe but did evil things are chastized before entering the fold of eternal life.

People who don't believe, regardless of their deeds, cease to exist when they die.

I don't see where self-judgement fits in this picture.

we were created in his image, i'm not surprised God and humans share some of the same emotions, i'm sure he has infinite amount of emotions that we don't got also, we are only told about the ones we understand.

That may be it. But all I know about God he is a very emotional being. Love is a emotion. God is pure love and therefore is a being of emotion. That does not bother me in any way. In fact I need him to be such. As how would I hang out with him ?

Yes God has made man in his image and we are very much like him and he is very much like us but with out sin.

The very idea that God is emotional is in direct conflict with many of the ideas discussed around here. The entire idea of oneness would not work if God was in fact a separate being filled with emotion.

But as far as I can tell God is very emotional in many ways but yet he can not be in the same place as sin.

This is exactly what the apostlie Paul taught
