Well today I went nature walking, shreaded my feet with blackberry thorns and came across two friends who just picked a place I knew about, although many others had aleready been in there int he last month and a half picking them.
I was not surprised but a little jealous.
HEre are a few images of one of their bags of collected specimens.
I guess there will be a lot of research projects now.
Here are four images of this morning's cyan hunt and a ten pound bag of shrooms. Not counting their other bag.
I have too admit I am soooo jealous.
Oh well. i have had better days.
and have a shroomey6 day,
mj

Good lord. I'm speechless! good thing I have fingers to type :P. Were these meadownymph's? :S. I'm still dazzled. Maybe due to the fact I've not yet found one, but that seems like an incredible amount. Question, whats the dried weight ratio of these on average..? I know this is fairly clear-put but example, 10 grams of fresh salvia leaves will yield approx. 1 gram of dried leaves, they are basically 90% water.
Again, amazing yield.

12-16 fresh ounces dry down to approx. one dried ounce.
mj. Yes that was with Meadownympth and Borealis.
And if she is reading this, sorry if the scissors I gave you did not work. I used them the day before. At least I feel better knowning who is picking then the people who pick that I do not know.
But Borealis and I saw some places where thirty pounds were dug out and the patch ruined. This has been stead for about three weeks in the area. There are many there but everytime i leave them, the patch gets raided. And borealis, Meadownympth and I always use scissors to cut the shrooms. I am sick of finding some of these beautiful spots ruined by greedy evil folk who pluck them from the ground and do not let them grow right.
Anyway, Have a shroomy day.

Dear.... Lord..... Beautiful. No, beautiful doesn't describe that.... I'll have to steal a made up word to describe something purely awesome: scrumtrelescent. Those pictures were scrumtrelescent. Yes.

Why did you use the "Wakefield" designation?
It seems to me to be old nomenclature from the days when cyans and azures were thought to be different varieties of the same species.

Hi Joshua, Because P. cyanescens is identified worldwide as P. cyanescens Wakefield and P. azurescens is designated as P. azurescens Stamets and Gatrtz.
btw, against the wishes of many Oregon mycologists who refered to it for years as Psilocybe astoriensis.
A name I even used publically in 1982 when me and Mike Knoke, (Mike is a friend of mine who helped Paul build those two edible-shroom growing labs seen on the cover of his catalogue.
Paul named the shroom azurescens after his son whome he named in honor of the shroom.
So much for that. I do not understand who thought cyans and azures were varieties of one species. Never saw any conmments about that in any of the literature on shrooms.

IMO, the only case in which the name of the original founder should be included is in the case of strain specificity.
The species are P. cyanescens and P. azurescens, the name of the finder has little value as to the taxonomical nomenclature. I have read many scientific papers and do not see the term "wakefield" attached to P. cyanescens as a standard and see no reason it should be.
