This may be a little late, but has anyone thought of offering discounts to people who show proof of registration or who can provide proof that they voted in the Presidential Election. I'm not sure how this would work, but any ideas?

Why should you be given an incentive to vote? It's your right as a citizen of a democracy, and you should be happy to have it. My incentive to vote is that my voice will be heard, and maybe change can happen....

I completely agree. I am registered and personally can't wait, but the US DOES have a serious voter turnout problem and ignoring it isn't going to help fix it. So are all these "Rock the Vote" campaigns and volunteers who go to events to register the masses wasting their time? I don't think so.

This year will see an unprecedented turnout, especially among the 18-25 year old population. But I agree it's probably not a good idea to offer incentive as a vendor for people to vote. Your incentive should be the hundreds of thousands of Americans who have fought for, died for, and stood up for your rights (both in war, peace, and policy) throughout our nation's history.

However, it is EASY to register voters, the hard part is actually getting them to vote. In you have early voting in your area, VOTE EARLY!!! It's easy and they usually setup at very convenient locations for a 10 day period in mid October. This way you won't have ANY excuse for missing time at the voting polls on Nov 2nd.

Nov 2nd, take off work, request off work, refuse to work, but VOTE! Make sure ALL your friends that are registered to vote do the same. Throw a party afterward! Getting to the polls is the most important thing you can do to participate in our democracy. Leave yourself no excuses. Think of it as planning to buy your girl a 5 year anniversary present, if you forget about it your fucked... or maybe not fucked as the case may be.
