I confess im gonna rant.

Gonna fire a client today for being a fucking schedule nazi.  Not everything can be scheduled on your outlook calendar down to minute.  Some of us work in the natural world where things like weather, natural products, living inventory etc present way too many variables to use a fucking ai assistant to schedule your life for you. 

This is my one client i got from stupid ass "thumbtack" the techbro app that contractors are now forced to buy into to get seen by anyone and i should have known better. Im a word of mouth contractor and this right here is why.

I told this fuckin nerd this particular service happens in a window.  I said i need access to his sprinkler system during these dates and i do NOT schedule specific dates.  He fires back with "ok lets do the 27th". I was like "i can try but i may need to do it earlier or later depending on how things go with my other 29 clients.

He gives me a thumbs up and yesterday im like "ok bud youre up, ill be over tomorrow" and hes like "no id like to stick to the 27th" im like.. nnnnooo youre tomorrow, and i told you i need access to your system.. just need a garage code.  Hes like "im not comfortable with that".

I said "if youre not comfortable with me having your gate combo then i suggest you hire someone you trust".

Havent heard back yet becuse this twerp sleeps until like noon every day because he works from home and "works with ai" 🙄.

Also i fuckin hate that.  Like you really dont trust me IN YOUR YARD alone?  Like.. what the fuck you think im
Gonna do dude, steal your bike? Like yeah.  I can just see the wheels turning.  Hes got some image of an old timey burglar gang at the headquarters schemin up a new heist:

"Heres the deal guys.  This ones a long-game.  First, we're gonna start a landscaping company and i mean, a LEGIT company.  Insurance, workmans comp, employees, about $100k worth of equipment.  The works.  We'll get really good at it and i mean, we'll learn every plant name by its botanical name.  We'll get a huge portfolio of clients and pictures and then? When this guy finally gives us his gate code? We're gonna steal his Trek."

"Right? Thought of that one myself.  I mean, that bikes worth at least.. what.. $300 on the black market?! Well be sittin high on the hog this time boys"

I fuckin hate this client.  If i dont get a gate code ny the time its his turn (which is DEAD LAST of 30 clients) im ghosting him.  He can figure it out.  I already deleted thumbtack so he cant weaponize a bad rating or whatever. 

I hate gig economy techbro ai bullshit.  We used to have a SOCIETY and more and more, life is lived behind a screen.  We need to fullly boycott all this bullshit.  Uber, doordash, thumbtack, amazon, all of it before we all live in ghost towns of boarded up buildings.

Rant over.  Im going outside.

I hear you mate. In landscaping you'll run into snobs eventually, because some landscapers were greedy for every penny and licked boots of those clients who got used to it. They start thinking landscapers are their personal slaves who'll do anything to please them.

I agree with ghosting him/charging more than you do to regular peeps, it's fair to those who treat you right. But don't let that one wet smelly fart ruin your day, just not worth it.
You seem to have good integrity and that will be known, as you said word of mouth, best advertisement, especially with connecting with down to earth clients.

I confess that I've tripped every week this month. Normally that's more like once every six weeks, festivals exempted.

Tripped every week, three weeks in a row. Feeling very good, made myself useful on a lot of occasions, slept very good. Last night my wife said "Whatever the fuck you're doing, keep doing it, you smile a lot and I feel very loved". Then she went on that it was probably because I had been tripping so much and "the day after, you always look at me like I'm the most beautiful thing you've ever seen".

So. I've always had some fear of drowning out the magic if I would endulge too much, but intend to goddamn keep the pedal floored and stay the course.




Oh and beef, fuck clients like that, before you know they ask you to cut down the entire front yard, 'because it obstructs the view of my cameras'. Fuck em. Sideways.

He's actually my brokest client. Don't get me wrong he has a shit load more money than I will ever have in my life but he's one of these guys that thinks he's rich and it's like.. no motherfucker you're not even close and you never will be.  You still work? Lol I have clients who have never worked a day in their life and their children and their children's children and their children's children's children will never work a day in their life.

It's a no-brainer to drop this guy on his head.

I actually ended up doing the tech bro. I gave him three options:

1. Today
2 never
3 tomorrow but you pay the full price of the compressor which is $400 plus the service fee

He finally gave me the gate code and then this motherfucker tells me he's actually there and he's going to be there all day.

I almost asked him "so wait what was the fucking problem then?"

Forget it this guy is getting billed out the ass for being annoying.  The new client though is really pretty cool.  He had some genuine technical understanding of how his systems work which I guess I always have a little respect for with rich people. Pretty incredible house. He wants me to come back and build some vegetable beds and some cool projects so. That's cool

Also I'm going to have to do some research on him because he seems like a professional athlete of some sort.  Way too young and fit to have that kind of money

But no seriously that actually makes a lot of sense. I have access to some of the wealthiest heirs of the American economy 24 seven.  They know goddamn well if I ever stole a penny from them I would never work again. 

Also, I never locked my truck when I'm in those neighborhoods because the only other people around our other working guys.  And working guys don't steal the same as thieves never work.
