Idk if it helps. This was what my ATL7 jars looked like with some small stone growth, I S2B the jars after harvesting stones and had no issues.

You should try at least once. Big tubs are neat. Now scaling up to a bathtub might not be a great idea but I have some tips on it should anyone be that nutz.

now that I've got some skin in the game.

Now that I can confidently perform every step of the process without having to ask a single question or second guess myself.

there's no more pressure or anything. Basically it's all fun from here. All downhill. in a good way!


I'm super patient. And I didn't want to waste so much sub all at once while going through my trial and error stage.

This has been my reasoning so far.


I'm not going to lie.  A really nice looking canopy on a big mono has a lot of sex appeal.:howyoudoing:

I don't remember who did the Kiddy swimming pool.

but that one was cool too.

Definitely going to make use of the one or two I have laying around for some outdoor patches.

The flame is the ultimate cleanser, trust it. It needs nothing else after, except to cool down, you can squirt some syringe solution out for that

Hamloaf i think?  Id like to see someone dial it in.  It got a little soggy in the middle iirc.  Probably the rain settled to the center of the plastic sheet over the top

Big grows are what excited me about going for it (shout out to Choempi on RIU, and eventually FrankH) went back-to-back Mono's in 2011, Ralphster spores 7 quarts of WBS (2nd Mono was 6qts 1 jar was slower) yup, we used to shoot MS into grains via flamed needle in open air, the risk made it exciting too, now here I am years later finally doing cakes with MS (started on grain, I know, different path than most)... makes me chuckle every time.

The 66qt tubs have changed over the years, I still have the original, she's a Frankenstein tub, been through it with all my projects. Once the Polyfil finally ran out, took a long time by the way, micropore tape was mush easier and I wasn't using them anyway, switching over to mainly 12qt tubs or 6's later on. Anyway, been a LONG time doin' a Mono... shit probably 2017 or 18, we should break out 4-5 quarts, regular cubes for nostalgic purposes, and goto... WAR!

flame sterilize only, spraying with iso just cancels that out

If itโ€™s a red hot needle, thereโ€™s no need to cool it off.  It wil become cool once the inoculant touches it. 

If itโ€™s a red hot scalpel, bury and resurrect it quickly into uncolonized agar before cutting into the culture. 



It was me who did the kiddy pool.  If I were going to attempt that for real, next time I would make the substrate at least a third of the thickness of that last one.
