Pf tek offers an easy start in regards to readily available materials and sterilization without a pressure cooker.

Grains require a pressure cooker, though the process can be faster. The main difference in the jar lids is the use of a sfd over the hole in the lid, as well the size of the jars in which quart jars are utilized

Here's one of my favorite grain spawn recipes, super easy

No prep millet

If you are considering grain spawn I highly suggest sourcing them from a feed mill nearby. You can get it far cheaper than online.

Edit: you can inoculate pf cakes with spores as the composition allows some resilience to bacteria. Spores to grain is a bad idea because spores are inherently dirty.

Start with a clean culture on agar for grain spawn. You could use a spore syringe for PF cakes though. Starting with grain spawn ( or cakes) will be waaaaay faster than say an colonized agar wedge put directly to sterilized wood chips. If you want to read a good thread with pictures,  search “ Tweeq’s woodlover adventures” . He does a pretty good job going through his step by step and the results were F’n Awesome. Also, “ Asante’s little wavy cap patch that could”. One day I’ll learn how to post links. Maybe.🤡

2 years ago I indulged in subaeruginosa for a while, having a handful of experiences in a relatively short period of time. I also was increasing the dose on each occasion. Starting at 2g up to 4g.

Subs are some strong creatures, I can tell you that.

Also, WLP wasnt very noticeable in the first experiences just wobbly legs and that was it. But one experience, the 4g one, was VERY noticeable specially the next morning. I had difficulty swallowing, was super weird and a bit scary. I was aware of WLP so I did not freak out but just eating some snacks was a bit of a mission, the swallow reflex was hella awkward and it made me feel like I could choke. I gave up on eating and slept it off. Within a few hours I was all good.

But yeah, in my experience it is definitely not a myth.

The larger dose, the many experiences in a short period of time... it all could have added to this weird swallowing thing.

I've been away from cultivating for a while and did up some oats the other day. They didn't turn out like I remember. Does it make a big difference if the bottom half of the jars are somewhat solid? The upper part is nice and loose, but the bottom is all stuck together and I can't shake it loose.
Will it still colonize ok? Or should I start over?:confused:

There is a marketplace forum where you can participate in giveaways and trades, it unlocks after your account hits 90 days old and at least 50(iirc) posts

But if you start contributing to threads here and rub shoulders a bit folks will definitely take note of your situation and will usually reach out to you proactively, no need to ask. But also people here are generous so even if you did ask, though it may not be the most socially appropriate, you’d probably still receive help

I dont produce spores so anything id send would be second hand and idk who or how they were collected, let alone when.
