maybe somehow the warm water vapor is getting into the upper container via a hole or something? shouldn't be a problem though.

Tape up the outer sides of the top of the rubbermaid container where the lid touches the container. It will keep the jars from rusting and adding a higher chance of contams.

Your OK man. Make sure that the bottom of the jars are not too hot. Before I built my current incubator I placed a piece of cardboard bettween the bottom of the upper tub and the jars. Im not a big fan of the two tub incubator though.

You could always throw some weather stripping on the top of the sealed container in order to produce a better seal, sometimes the " rubber maids" are fucked up from the "get go". :wink:

I answered your question get some weather strips. Put them on the top part of your incubator (lid), right by where it snaps down. This will form a tight seal and no moisture will enter through the lid of your top container. Or you could do what I did and purchase a self sealing plastic reptile house and float that bitch in the water. I wrapped towels around  the jars and it stays at a constant 82. So far I have had excellent results, with EQ and PM,  but my PB ate shit I'm a thinking :wink:

Here's a diagram from Alien's Tek (Incubator)-Notice the air holes he's placed in his smaller rubbermaid. Scroll half way down to read what he has to say.



I wouldn't worry about the humidity, particularly if you're birthin cakes and not intendin to do casings. High humidity during incubation is fine.
