Sure, but that's the last safety precaution. I'm not relying on that. : )

To others: I understand your logic perfectly. I have an induction 23qt PC but I can't just leave it be as the rocker is flimsy. A mm to the left, and less steams comes out, a mm to the right and more is released. So it's sketchy. And for the first 30 - 45m, regardless of the rocker, the PC will need less and less heat, so I need to addjust it.

Presto digital sounds great : )

Shame! With KSSS, do they normally default to that from MS, or is it truly a matter of cloning once it shows up.

Thankfully got a lot of cakes and jars, so hopefully something cool pans out.

yeah I'll babysit a bit for the first 20 minutes or so after it's at pressure, but once it's holding, I'll run to the grocery store or whatever, turn my back on it a little.

:yolo:

I did this once..but not with induction just on my stove top.

I ran one run and everything went so smooth it didn't need to be babysitting at all. And then so I went for a second run.

I went to pick up my kid from school when I got back I was climbing up to 20 psi.

Fortunately that's still not really an issue for the thing but it did Scare me.

I just assumed that the vessel being now hot and the temperature inside the kitchen changing.. for the hotter. Due to the first PC run . was the cause of it.

Never do much babysating  at all during the first run tho.

For the most part I usually will vent and then get up to pressure put the rocker on that has extra weight added on it. Lower my heat. And I'll check on it once or twice maybe during each run but at least for all of my first runs the babysitting is minimal.

It's those damn multiple runs that always get me.

Hi, first time grower here, does this look ready to start fruiting? It's definitely reached pretty much full coverage on the surface, but on the bottom and sides there's still what look like gaps. But it's hard to tell with all the condensation and the vermiculite being all glittery.

So Puff, Baba, Kloakk, and Faht already let me know that my plates were bacterial. However, I kept them around for science. Here is what they look like now.

Question, is bacteria identifiable? Can one look at a bacteria infected mycelium and pinpoint what bacteria is riding along?

Most people initiate fruiting conditions from spawn, and smaller containers like your shoebox here dont need any modifications to provide excellent fruiting conditions.

Lo-z - no, nobody could id bacteria through mycelium. Even without the mycelium in the way its a niche art and i can only think of 2 people who could id bacteria by itself on a plate

I recently weighed some magnets to add to the rocker of a new PC so it would hold at 18psi not realizing that my son had broken my scale. A little while later, the safety plug blew while my whole family was in the kitchen.

Not my finest moment, and it startled the kids really bad, but it wasnโ€™t as catastrophic as Iโ€™d always imagined it would be.

So I see all the time that "You shouldn't have to mist/ Open your tub until after the first flush" and that "surface conditions happen naturally"

And from what I'm gathering, if you get field capacity right from the jump and your tub's conditions i.e. FEA dialed in correctly, modified holes in the right place and right size. Room conditions such as temperature and relative humidity  are locked in. Your tub shouldn't ever really look dry or lack the micro water beads indicative of proper surface conditions.

I'm flipping back and forth between "LITFA" and "give it a mist"

If there are knots and primordia everywhere, but the surface looks a little matte or dry,,,, do you mist it or LITFA? Do the surface conditions with micro beads stay through out the first flush or do those micro beads evaporate or suck up into the substrate before it pumps out fruits like a tsunami pulls the shoreline back before releasing its wave.

I know this questions gets beat to death but I keep coming back to it each time I level up each time I come back to it I get a new understanding based on my current understanding level.

I'm team mist, at least in this case. The job is to create the right humidity and surface conditions. If you can do that with the coir and the tub from the beginning, then great. But if it needs a hand along the way, that's cool too.

Thanks Ras, I'm looking at two 1/8 inch pins and a field of primordia and thinking,, is my misting causing primordia NOT to turn into pins? is this when I LITFA.

What looks like it should be an absolute field of mushrooms isn't taking off the way I'd expect. Maybe im just hovering too much.

If anything, drying out is more likely to keep primordia from maturing.

How are you keeping the lid on that thing?

Surface conditions are important, how you get them is not. Mist if you need to don't mist if you don't need to, increase fae if you get big droplets. I mist if it looks dry, and will continue until the primordia turn into decent size pins.
The idea of a property dialed in monotub is to dial it into your environment. No one can tell you how to do it exactly unless they have the same environment as you.
Properly hydrating coir will help you dial in easier. The ideal FAE is what you need to work on to get it dialed in perfectly. It may take multiple tries with hole configuration, amount of holes, or using different hole sizes to get it where you need it.

Flipped lid with stick tack spacers, about a 5mm gap all the way around. And I control FAE with MP Tape. More FAE = less tape.

Thanks Bigworm this helps my mind a lot. I think i keep chasing "how it happens" and not that I can "make it happen".

With a relative humidity of ~35 in the room its think the moisture just gets sucked right out regardless of misting. I can mist a 7qt shoebox up to 3 times a day even with 3 layers of MP tape. But the 15qt with one layer can maintain rainforest levels of humidity inside.
