Okay, mono looks good to me:thumbup::mushroom2: thanks.

If you've been testing field capacity by squeezing a handful of coir i think we can rule out oversaturation for that spot. Maybe less grain got mixed in that area:shrug: time will tell.

Misting the surface is what we do these days. Misting the lid and walls is outdated information.

Cool, thanks.

So when misting you mist when it looks a bit dry, wait for evaporation then mist again whenever it becomes a bit dry again? Maybe twice a day I guess... I should do one mist and see how fast it evaporates.

If the micro-droplets on your substrate dry up — reduce the FAE.

Only mist if the environment doesn't generate them on its own. Ideally, you shouldn't have to open the tub until harvest.

Nope just fuzzy feet, can you increase the fae (fresh air exchange)

Perfect this is on point because im in the same spot.

"You shouldnt have to open the tub until harvest."

So here is my dilemma. Field capacity going in, fruiting at spawn. By the time I get knots and maybe even slightly before, my substrate stops looking so moist. I dont think ive naturally gotten surface conditions yet. Im always misting.

But when I DO get pins, and eventually fruits, they get fuzzy feet.

So if I closed down my FAE more im creating a much more co2 rich environment, one that the fruits think is too high, but surface conditions is not enough 🤔.

Too much fae = dry
Too littel = fuzzy feet but also promots surface conditions.

Stuck in a loop of misting for surface conditions.

Thank you
One more question - there's a couple of large shrooms that already dropped lots of spores. But also plenty of smaller shrooms, which are way behind in growth.

Pick everything now or wait a bit longer?
I've read that spores can negatively affect future flushes (this is the first one)?

A little bit of fuzzy feet is perfectly normal and not a sign of a problem. I only get worried if they grow way up the stipe or if mycelium is growing on top of the caps.

A dry substrate is a problem. Always.

So shall I give them a little spray?  and then leave the bag slightly more open to allow better air flow?

Vel, I do believe Puff was responding to me, but your picture highlights what Puff is saying.

Since your fuzzy feet are staying at the bottom, your tub is in good shape.

If that fuzzy starting climbing the stipe, or ended up on the cap, thats when you would need to intervene.

As for harvesting. If they already dropped spores pick them. If you want to let the others mature, do so. Ooor if you want to just clean the tub for a 2nd flush do that. The choice is yours.

Ive done both. The only downside to picking each one when its ready is your drying cycles are now staggered instead of all at once.

Bump field capacity a hair or use more bulk sub

So a higher sub/spawn ratio to expand the moisture, or same ratio with a higher field capacity. :takingnotes:

For the tubs I got going now I just added an extra layer of MP tape to see if i can pull the beads out of the surface. The walls have condensation on them so I know its humid in there. Just no natural beads on the surface.

Thanks tryp

Just dont make it so wet it's not fluffy.

People used to seal off their holes prior to fruiting, that may help.

Choking up on airflow for now isnt a bad idea, once fruits form they hold more humidity in

^ good tubs, but yeah, on the dry side.

You want droplets throughout, big or small, better small I think (?). I just grabbed myself a pump sprayer at the dollar store and that seems to be a great option.

Ideally, whole thing is covered in droplets, unmistakenly. If you need a flashlight, I'd give it a good misting.

I have been considering this, but I keep reading contradicting info about this topic. Some say mist just the walls and lid, which I don´t find necessary since theres condensation there already. Some say mist the surface from up high and let that mist gently fall in the surface. Some say watering the fruits can lead to rot or contam.

I would love to see more tiny droplets all around the surface though. Will see if I can find a nice mister and may give it a go.

We all pretty much mist as needed.. especially with cubes you don't have to worry about misting making them abort or anything.

Those tubs do look a bit on the dry side. Maybe add a couple more layers of micropor to the holes that are closer to the sub. To help keeping the moisture after you've done the misting.

I’m going to make some PF Tek jars, but I have a few questions:

Will I be able to sterilise my jars properly using this pot?

As I’m in Europe, I don’t have access to canning jars, so I don’t have any lids to place at the bottom of the pot – can I use a tea towel instead?

With this pot, should I sterilise for at least 2 hours? How long can I keep a sterilised jar before filling it, given that I won’t be able to sterilise everything?

How much water should I use with this pot, bearing in mind that with the tea towel, I won’t be able to sterilise as many jars as shown in the photo?

:takingnotes: 🫡

I know Baba Yaga's tek is originally gor pans, but I made it work with cubes so I stuck with it. Instead of modifying the tub i used sticky tack with a flipped lid and MP tape to dial FAE. And when when it needs more FAE I take tape away, if it needs less I add more.

As long as when you put the lid on it's not releasing a ton of steam constantly. You're good to go.

Your lid needs to fit nice and tight and make a good seal to hold in as much of the steam as possible
