Here are a few more pictures with and without flash and a few others. The look like when you try to suck a milk shake through a straw and the straw collapses under the suction.

That sub is way too wet. Judging by the other rotten mushrooms in the Pic, I'd say Vert or psuedomonas. Or possibly a bacteria that I don't know the name of.

Might be a good idea to reconsider how you control FAE

What sort of tub setup are you running?

Those are aborts from the first flush I never picked, the mycelium just started to take them over again.

The Shoebox has its lid flipped upside down with sticky tack on each corner to give it a 5mm gap around the entire top. This tek was taken from Baba Yaga's Pans in Tubs 3.0 tek

it still smells good an fresh in there. Every morning when I wake up the surface is dry so I mist it. The rest of the fruits are growing normally just those 3 are weird, and i do have a bunch of aborts i left from the first flush, somewhere in the forums i read that if you leave them the myc will just take them back over and use them for energy. Could be a load of BS though as it was older.

There's pooling in those pictures. That means there is too much humidity and not enough fae.

The best way to tell is by reading surface conditions. You want tiny droplets with zero pooling. If there isn't enough droplets then you restrict FAE, if they are too big then you increase it. Mycelium growing on mushrooms is another sign of too much humidity.

It's also worth noting that Baba's writeup is meant for pans. They have totally different requirements. Pans prefer a much higher humidity.

Another thing to consider is that your room's rH, air movement, coir saturation, room temp, and a bunch of other factors will mean that what works for you will not be exactly the same as everyone else.

At the end of the day, too much water on the sub will cause a heap of problems.

Me personally, the fruits look fine even if they're "deflated"

If you're misting every day, i would dial back FAE somehow (assuming they're cubes) because that means its evaporating too quickly without forming new water droplets from the substrate

If youโ€™re running cubes, i would switch to an ez dial monotub, or at least match the quantity of FAE that an ez dial tub provides

You might have an oversaturated cake

And yeah mushrooms will turn back into mycelium, thats basically what fuzzy feet are, but there is a point where if they become too myceliated over, they become overlay which can inhibit fruiting bodies

Thanks Puff   The tek is in fact for Pans!! However, it worked for this shoebox's first flush (Jedi Mind Fuck) from S2B to harvest in 2 weeks and 3 days and got 115g's from a pint of brown rice spawn.

I may have over watered when moving into my 2nd flush. this is still my first successful shoebox. and moving into my 2nd flush I'm still learning the next steps to maintain after the first flush. When i had MP Tape all the way around the box the humidity inside maintained really well, but i got fuzzy stems so i opened the box up, got rid of the fuzzy stems but lost my humidity control thus prompted the misting. the first flush definitely maintained thousands of little micro beads of water on the surface after misting. but with the second flush, the myc seems a little more matted due to the misting which is probably why we see some pooling in the pictures.

I'll dial back the misting and will retire this cake after the the next few veils break.

Just for clarity

Yes they are cubes, and like i stated in the post above "When i had MP Tape all the way around the box the humidity inside maintained really well, but i got fuzzy stems so i opened the box up, got rid of the fuzzy stems but lost my humidity control thus prompted the misting."

@Hip: I used rye for many years, used whole brown rice, spelt, oats and millet. Oats were the only ones I straight out rejected after the first batch. What a bitch of a grain. Maybe it's the grain, not the prep.

The thing with millet is, if some kernels burst it doesn't get messy. Doesn't lump half as much as the larger cereals

This is a tub I grew from a plate pin clone. Is it ok to clone one of these clusters, or do I need to go back to spore?

Also this is what it looks like after harvest, should I harvest all these little pins + soak for next flush, or let it ride?

Clone away, no problem

I always scrape the surface after a good flush to get rid of aborts and whatnot. Could punish it, soak it or do a floating lotus :awesomenod:

In your case maybe just do a floating lotus and let it ride :strokebeard:

If its saturated from a rehydration then its less of a problem, the FAE you have already should be good, you probably dont even need to mist it since its so saturated within the substrate

Nope. The puck has moisture, no different than scraping from a dry spore print.

However, if there's a verm layer on top, that might stop dry things from falling to the BRF itself (which is why it can work to slow down airborne contams). Sterile water would help with that.

BTW sterilized tweezers are goated for working with swabs, you can pull some strands with visible spores, which will have millions, more than enough. This keeps moisture and nutrients off of the main swab so you can reuse it without dirtying or waking up the rest of what's on there (be it spore or contam).

Not mandatory, some people swipe it or just jab the whole thing in. But good if you want multiple uses or to stretch it farther.

pointy hook ones are especially nice, and the dermatology/teeth cleaning kits they come in are usually under $10 and have other cool stuff in them.
