An old mattress will work. The futon is in the shop.

I pick because some alien grains and legumes don't like me. For some reason they are spawning points for contams in my experience.

I think you’ll get more starch off if you start with hot water after the cook and then switch to cold to stop the grains from cooking.  Immediate cold water makes the starch congeal onto the grain surface.

nobody knows, right?  but they are not white-rot fungi, like all the maybe all or most of the other ones mentioned in this thread Plastic-Eating Mycelium : Mycelium that eats plastic

two of the sources in that thread mentioned that Manganese peroxidase was the main enzyme responsible for digesting plastics...

do pans produce manganese peroxidase?

No idea though the pan spore germinations I've seen all have a star shape that looks like eather a split in the plastic or myc eating the plastic unsure untell I clean one of the plates to check could be a optical illusion or the myc eating through the agar

One of my goals for this year/ next year is to test the plastic eating abilities of all mycelium i can get my hands on

Ive read enough literature and seen enough people comment about that to where my intuition tells me most (if not all) myc have some plastic eating abilities

I will report back to yall with my findings

I'm starting to suspect everyone else is reusing needles.

Is a flame sterilized needle safe to reuse beyond a single use in mycology?

I personally would soak it in 70% iso then flame sterilze after the iso evaporates just to syerilize the plastic part that commects to the syringe

There is one thread on the Shroomery were somebody successfully grew some amanitas outside. They made use of materials from its host tree and used a very natural process if my memory serves me correctly. I'm scouting the search engine trying to find it. If anybody knows where this post is I'd love to read it again

I'm doing agar tonight I decided to go back to spores instead of attempting to clone just to eliminate issues. Had a lot of crap come up and I lost most of my notes so trying to research everything again so please forgive.

Going to transfer at least once but I'll gauge on contamination.

I struggled with jars and I'm thinking a monotub will give me some error. I'm going to try with just whole rice grains for seeds in PF tek that way I can shake. I got the big roll of foil I'm going to wrap over the top of my pot to keep steam from escaping and I'm gonna leave my jars cracked as it cycles. I'm thinking I may open the jars up after and mix up everything and then do a 2nd cycle. The mycelium does not do well with cakes, not sure if its overlay or or something like mycogone because with research I always had a lot of those yellow/amber drops that ooze out and I'm seeing thats character of mycogone.

I'm starting to see the benefit of not full sterilization on a peat moss and verm combo.

The more clean agar I use the better right? I should put as much as I can in my grain jars? as long as my transfer was sectored?
