They've knee jerked to the right because of politicians willing to exploit their prejudices using immigration. Not the problems themselves.

That's how the right operates the world over. It convinces their base to distrust all media sources they don't control, pumps out propaganda telling that base what they should be angry and scared of, then follows it up with political theatrics from candidates promising to "fix" those problems...all as a distraction to the graft and corruption they're engaged in, as they work to weaken democracy and empower greedy oligarchs in an attempt to set up a corporatocracy.

Claiming that Europes shift to the right is because of immigration problems is no different than saying the Nazis were able to take power because of the Jewish problem.
