Pasty, the bran you meant is just wheat bran? I know you used it in your straw cakes, but that's good to known that it is viable for using as flour. Saw some cheap at the store the other day.

I inoculated a bunch of cakes yesterday. Also working with varieties of recipes, BRF, WBSF, Oatmeal Flour and even WBSF/Oatmeal mix.

KSSS from a newly received print, and LI of Leucistic Eungella Australia from a plate that was pinning well.

It would be wheat bran for sure. I want to see how it does straight across to brf. With my straw cakes the straw had a lot of nutes where verm is pretty inert. Can bran do that lifting on its own? I suspect it can but I want to be sure.

Dope. Never got those straw cakes to work, but I was trying a workaround and just grounding up oats for flour. I don't think it had enough stickiness, also I used shorter containers, maybe it helped them get a bit too wet or something idk.

Nutrition wise, seems like if anything it should be better, although perhaps more contamination prone.

When you have a fresh 50lbs bag, it makes sense to maximize its use I suppose. Buying overpriced BRF feels absurd in comparison, and getting BR to flour it yourself, well, why buy that you already have 50lbs of oats?

I guess with bran I feel it was worth exploring due to the number of folks that already have it on hand for G&MM applications. Plus it's so dirt cheap, I feel it could easily be the best thing to recommend a new person try. Plus bran doesn't get doughy which is a complaint I have with most flour in general. Of course if the net result is a 30% drop in yield it won't be worth it.

3 days from inoculation and I’m seeing recovery in most of the cakes. The 118 is most behind while the C6 is way out in front. Thinking I’ll do some more this weekend. Want to run 6 bran cakes VS 6 brf. Everything will be crammed into a Ezdial mono cause I’m lazy and I got a bunch of em already.

C6 just going wild in there. Never fruited it on a cake before.

updated date for my inoc. sept 16. moving into the new place got delayed. it will probably be the 9th this wednesday. but the latest im starting is sep. 16
