I just poured my first agar “plates”…

They’re actually condiment cups, but you get the idea.

There is some condensation on the inside of the lids, and searching the forums brings up contradictory opinions. Is this generally considered to not be a problem?

How long do people usually wait before using fresh plates to make sure they’re not contaminated?

About a week should do it, condensation probably gone by then to :rockon:

I use condiment cups and what I do is stack them in an old 30 qt. mono to keep random nasties from floating in.



Now for the excessive condensation you can turn the thing upside down, crack the lid a hair, and drain it like that. I usually save this for the day that I plan to use them.

Congrats on your first agar. Condiment cups rule.

Also it’s not generally considered a problem as long as it doesn’t decrease visibility too much and it doesn’t end up on your agar (and spread contamination around there)
