I confess I don't talk to others enough so got a question related to what I'm going through.

Anyone ever been through a tooth infection and know when it's serious? Like I feel it practically in my forehead and entire left face 👀 n been other signs of infection from leakage points aka eyes n nose 🤔

Legit been struggling n I took few days off this coming week (starting tomorrow) from work lol.. though idk if I should go to the er if this is serious or what. I don't evin have a appointment setup 😂 yet.


Top left wisdom tooth is shattered entire outer shell gone inside is a hole str8 through the center n pre sure that's infected or necrotic

You need to go to the ER immediately. You have anb infection, and you are at risk of serious illness or death if you do not seek medical attention right away. Those kind of infections are dangerous and can lead toa  blood infection which is usually fatal if it passes a certain point. Go now, and keep us updated.

Yeah I've been through quite a few of them one recently actually. Definitely need to get into a dentist immediately so you can get some antibiotics.

From the sounds of it you've got a pretty bad abscess in your jaw. It can continue to get worse in that infection can spread especially because it's already so close to your brain.

They will give you the antibiotics and have you take it and within a day or two the infection will start to be controlled and the pain will go away

Then they can proceed to fix it. Usually involves having to have a root canal when it's that bad.


Most dentist will see you immediately if you call  and tell them you're in that much pain and it's an emergency.

Lots of them don't even make you pay if you need a payment plan or don't have insurance. Just call a dentist and tell them you need help and they'll take care of you.



For the sake of saving lots of money I wouldn't go to the ER unless you have insurance.


In the meantime take some extra strength Tylenol in combination with extra strength ibuprofen..


Nobody will do any type of work on your tooth until they get rid of the infection..


Usually though put a nerve block or numbing agent in there just to give you some relief for a few hours and write you the prescription for antibiotics and then tell you to come back when you've completed it.

It'll be a 3 times a day dose of Extra Strength antibiotic
So like 4-5 days of antibiotics. 

By the second day the antibiotics will have started working in the swelling will go down in the pain will be much more manageable if not completely gone.

I would say that qualifies as serious. Worth a trip to urgent care etc if you can swing it. They might have a rec for a dentist or be able to get you fast tracked, or at least prescribe an antibiotic to help with infection in the mean time.

A bad tooth was how I earned my Millennial Merit Badge: Uber'd to the ER.

My face had swollen up red and progressing to purple, I had a 103F fever, and was I was basically delirious. when I stumbled into the hospital.

Ended up needing to get a (very small) section of jaw bone removed from where the infection had progressed into the bone. Also got to deal with a blood-borne infection and an ever so slight case of sepsis. Left me with a bit of nerve damage on my face so I smile kinda lopsided now. Also left me with a bizarre case of "itchy bones" for a few months as it healed up, which was certainly a unique experience

Not recommended.


Find a dentist. If you have insurance, great. If not, most will have credit programs or loan offers. Just call around and ask if they'll take an emergency case. Believe me I understand dental anxiety, I am absolutely awful about it. But between the Valium scrip the dentist gave me, and the nitrous during the procedures, it was at least doable.

Yeaa idk how bad lol I'd say I'm plenty coherent it's about 35% the pain of the nerve at the base of skull and neck being pinched years ago in a headbutting incident for the ages.

Might tell you guys about that later though it's 1 of a kind and could prob be used to track me down lwk 😂
