7/29 S2B. I am using the BoomrBin from NorthSpore, 3lbs grain spawn bag was fully colonized, mixed into two 5 lbs of CVG. I did not put a casing layer because the things I've read said to put a casing layer, to not put a casing layer, and I just went by the instructions that said leave the casing for after seven days, when the substrate is fully colonized. BoomrBin was slighty defective as the sides weren't closing completely, but nothing shipping tape wont fix.

I had a nagging feeling that they were suffocating from being completely closed, and after checking around a little more, I decided that this was more than the 50-70% that people were talking about when it's time to put the casing.

I read that at this point, I shouldnt put a casing anymore because there are some knots and it would only delay the fruits. Also, since I cracked it open to check at 6 days instead of the 7-14, I should just go along merrily. If I had introduced FAE earlier, there's a possibility of aborts, and he is getting stinky everytime I post a photo update.

Everything looks right to me. This is my first time growing psychedelics and I have embraced this tub and talked to it like it was a growing plant, and have spent a good minute or two pressing my face against the monotub peering inside. My instincts tell me I did nothing wrong.

He insists the mycelia are dying slowing down. This is the last photo I sent him 08/07 and I said these look like hyphal knots



Please advise.
Edit: 1. Is my photo from 08/05 showing more than 50-70% or was it too early
2. What should my next steps be.

You need to mist (from high above and let it drift to the surface, no close blasts of water) that surface and catch it right away, you are still ok but get beads back on that surface and ease up on air for cubes for pinning, I couldn't tell you how many pictures I've seen over the years where the surface is a dessert (almost) too early in the cycle.  The problem is people here the term FAE and start it WAY too early, surface dries, no pins or sparse fruits, and it's all because of not leaving it alone (guilty too when I first started out) for pinning.  Cubes can handle 100% humidity or near for pins, check out these 2nd flush fruits (below), notice how dry the surface and sub is this late in the game, all good, fruits are well developed, rehydrate and pins in a day or two.  It's a timing thing, more humidity for pins setting, and then slowly adding air to the finish, it sounds complex, but once you get a few runs under your belt, it becomes second nature.

Hey, thanks a lot for pointing that out! The examples were really helpful. There was a bug processing images with non-standard encoding, but it should work more reliably now.



If you ever want to delete any of your uploaded images but the option is cut off, you can do it from the text links page. Please let me know if you encounter this problem again!

These 2 tubs are starting to smell sweet , plus still no pins so i guess this is my first introduction to contamination but anyways my questions are they is it a lost cause - the smell is hard to describe not that earthy mushrooms like it should smell just a weird sweet smell and also i heard somewhere probably YT saying about scrapping the top mycelium off and letting it restart or another said something about hydrogen peroxide being sprayed on the mycelium could also help , or am i SOL Thanks
