Yes sir, a rehydrate situation no doubt, you will normally see new pins within a day or 2.  I rehydrate the sub directly after harvesting, but she may come back for more, you could do a bottom soak, or mist it heavily, but moisture is needed to revive that tray, if it will.

Third pic shows a big pin, water that sucker and watch it grow!  :laugh:

I think it's interesting how the mycelium on the surface all grows away from the mushrooms.

Finally got a new filter for my amazonian FFU. First one had a literal slice across the pleats so was kinda useless. They were nice enough to send me a free replacement but it has taken weeks to get here.

New one still has a bit of a rough patch on one edge, but at least it isn't dead center so I can work with it. Still haven't decided if the rough area is better above or below the work space, time will tell.

Hiya, wondering if this new growth on my APE block is contamination? It looks different from the earlier mycelium growth and like it's taking over the fruits so I fear it is something else! Anyone recognise it?

Haha, just like Splittinghairs — I'm over here waiting...

But to feel like I'm actually doing something, I'm going to grind some rice and prepare six new BRF cakes. I still haven't decided whether to inoculate them with GT, TW, or crack open a new spore print.

And then... back to waiting.

or
agar -> LC -> grain?

Agar to LC to gain will yield faster colonization, but the risk is a bit higher

I got a quick question that I somehow haven't seen covered anywhere: what are the numbering systems that I've seen? I'm familiar with tracking transfer (T#) count and I even do that, but what are G# and F#? What do those count? What other activities would I even need to keep track of?

Don't know about G, but it might be used interchangeably with F, which stands for generation from spores.

So let's say I do a cross, Yeti x Wild Australian.

The original cross would be F0 and the cubes might be more normie.

If I take spores from those fruits, the cubes grown from that would be F1s, and in the case of crosses, tend to show more interesting phenotypes.

Someone feel free to correct me.

I've been collecting these (dead of course) From my woods up in Maine.  They come off a yellow birch. 

Help me id it? this is by far the biggest one i've ever found. usually they're more like a softball size. 

I THINK its (Fomes fomentarius).

If I saw that around here I'd say Fomes for sure. They hold up really well as deco bit sometimes they pop some tiny wasp and or mosquito like insects.

They need a lot of sub to grow that big. Fun fact: when there's too little sub available they grow sclerotia like formations that can turn into fruitbodies once the myc realizes it's really consumed everything in reach

This culture came from a vendor syringe and was supposed to be Mexicana Jalisco - I could never get decent looking myc on an agar plate - it always looked stringy.  Also inoculated a BRF puck that had decent looking growth, sampled that back to agar.  I sent the cleanest looking plate to grain and let it colonize for 5 months trying to get sclerotia but it just started drying out so I threw it in a shoebox - there are several more shaggy looking fruits popping  this morning.  The stems I pulled had no blueing, another bit of evidence it's not what it's supposed to be.  I doubt there is any way I could have introduced some wild strain into this process, leads me to believe a mix up with the vendor syringe. Still have the syringe but the vendor name is not listed, didn't save any notes or paperwork and my memory is shot - probably time to scrap this.

ochras at monotube (shoebox); 15 days after S2B...see many points/water droplets more dark..its ochras primordia? or contam..??

2nd image:
ochras at litle frutification chamber (water tub tek) after I take the cake from box of S2B.
Much fluffy in the top..

Only grow GTs until now

Absolutely. I’ve grown a lot of Ochra. They make a cloud first and then pins pop out.
