I'll agree on that, 10 years ago I caught a lot of flack for trying to be genuine and vulnerable. The same people who would give me shit back then are mostly divorced or their kids won't talk to them, or their friends have started a new group chat without them, etc.

Change isn't easy, it does not happen from a place of comfort,  and it does not occur without effort and intention.

Re: Cultivation confessional [Re: BeefExtreme] * 2

I didn't insult anyone in any of my posts. It is my honest opinion. Beef, idc about what happened to you in the past. It doesnt make you special because you joined the military and had to do what people in your MOS do. Stop pulling that out of the entitlement hat on a moments notice. You arent on some moral or experiential high ground here.

Now, I do come off like a dickhead. I have been told that more than once. Also, there is no room for intonation or sarcasm in text so, thats how it comes off. Worse than voice or in person. I am not bashing anyone here except perhaps the medical industry and pharmaceutical companies. I realize there is a place and for mental health treatment. We arent very good at it and the industry is about money, not health. I also realize some people absolutely need mental health treatment. But, the current paradigm pushes people into thinking they have problems and are inclined to treat it rather than cure it. A lot of people talk about being depressed and anxious. I have my days too. That is just an honest, normal response to our surroundings. You would be a psycho if you didnt get depressed and anxious with this madness. This isnt how humans are meant to live and you can tell because it all is crashing down now. My first point that started all this is dont trust people on here (including me) or the medical industry.
I now will do an obligatory apology for coming off like a dick. Its certainly not the first time. I still have a lot of improvement to do. No one is a finished product. To Hendrix, is that Frank Zappa? Don't saddle yourself with some jargon about what is wrong with you so you have an excuse for failure. People do it all the time. "Oh sorry, I have trauma". Ya, everyone does. The people who dont turn out to be the worst people in the world. If you grow up without struggle and strife you will have no empathy or perspective. And with nothing to accomplish or want for you will find a lack of purpose. And those are some of the most dangerous people. People with all the money and no wisdom or morals looking for stuff to do. I'm thinking of the elite who must think they are gods at this point.

The struggle is needed and we should appreciate it for hardening us and making us better people. Just like you may appreciate a hard lesson that you had to learn from a parent or teacher. The old adage says 'its not how many to times you fall, its how u get back up'. So, hendrix, everyone, embrace your discomfort and appreciate it for what it is. A tool to test and improve us.  Don't wash yourself with self pity everyday and feel like the adversity you experienced isnt somehow warranted or needed.  Know these things make you better if it doesnt destroy you. Don't run away from it or try to mute it with drugs or brainwashing. Take my long winded responses with a grain of salt cuz I ain't perfect either, by a long shot.

Which are 50-61 right now

Ouch!

It also gets my hackles up when people use generalities to assign behaviors to groups. I fall into the cross of boomers and gen x, but generally identify more with the young'ens. When assuming that whole groups behave the way that some, or even many, do you are only tiny steps away from bigotry. Ageist, racist, classist, nationalist, sexist, etc. it all feels the same to me.

Individual behavior is the only thing that should matter. You don't have to belong to any group to be an asshole. Not everyone from most groups are assholes. Even the most polarized person from a group might just be misinformed and trying their best. I have seen good people fall under bad influence and become intolerable, and I have seen some individuals break free of those influences and become great friends (all too rarely, sadly, but it can happen). Tribalism is a beneficial survival mechanism but it can also be a plague on humankind in a larger context.

It seems that progress is slow and nothing is more troubling to me than watching people lose their critical thinking ability as they age. Except maybe those that never learned it in the first place. Watching idealist hippies become crotchety "boomers" is sad. But now I am watching some of the idealistic youth become cynical and it is heart breaking. Three steps forward and two steps back is a slow way to cover ground but eventually we do get there.

I don't know what my point was. ADHD and excessive caffeine are a dangerous combo. If I am writing a dissertation in this thread, you can bet that there is something tedious that I should be doing and am avoiding instead.

How do you all feel about the term "boomers" to describe psilocybes?

I'm a huge fan of these sorts of initiatives. The typical antidrug crowd shuts the fuck up mighty quick when it's something to help veterans. We should be doing a lot more, but any progress in the right direction...

We just don’t care what others think about us. Honey badgers.

You come off like a dickhead universally and you havent examined that? Interesting.  You think you didnt insult anyone yet feel obligated to apologize.  Interesting.  Thoughtful people just apologize when they need to, not because they feel obligated.

Honestly, you dont comprehend well enough for me to waste my time with. Didnt say i was in the military.

Anyway.  Thou dost protest too much methinks.

Come on, bro, everyone knows you're just fishing for someone to ask about your time stationed overseas, and that twisted ankle you got moving crates of MRE's around.

What you really need to do is man the fuck up and handle your "trauma" the way that WW1, WW2, and Korean War vets did, the only healthy way: quietly and with lots of super manly manliness.

I confess that excessive heat and social isolation is triggering a wave of extra obnoxiousness in me. Well, that's my "excuse" anyway.

We called 'em boomers back in the day, B. Went to the local grocery mart with friends asking if they had boomers in stock one time. The employee said "Yes"! They led us to the condiment aisle. Boomer Esiason had his own BBQ sauce called Boomer's back then. What a letdown that was!

Anywho...

Thanks, guys. You have been a great group of folks to be associated with.  We would be an unstoppable force if we were localized. A fun daydream that is!

I know that there will be no happy everyday. Ups and downs are part of life and necessary to enjoy it or appreciate the good times. These tendencies I am finally willing to confront run deeper than that. Some or most of you understand this from your own hassles interfacing with life.

This thing causing me problems with relationships has affected my relationship with folks here including Beef. I convinced myself that they don't like me and would rather not see my posts. I can't remember why I started feeling this way but that's the problem. When I pop in after being away for a while, I'm surprised to see the people that say they are glad to see me back. But I'll disappear again before I "intrude" and make them dislike me again. It's fuckin' weird and it sucks.

The same problem exists in my real life. In my mind, I know that I am going to say or do something to fall from favor. My whole ride home from work, I'll dwell on an interaction, convincing myself that those people don't actually like me so I can't trust them to let my guard down and be me. It ends in isolation and relapse and contempt.

I'll get off the subject of me amd let someone else have the spotlight. I already feel like I'm hogging the thread. Thanks for hearing me out. It feels good to get this off my chest.

Oh and sorry if any of you guys feel like I have been dismissive or snubbed you in past interactions. It's a poorly wired defense mechanism in my logic. I hope you realize this now.

Thank you
