Let’s say manure is the primary substrate, but many people are experimenting with other mixes as well, including pure hay. A lot of these experiments have shown promising results. This species is picky and requires different fruiting conditions compared to many others. Check the earlier discussion — there was a conversation about what type of fruiting chamber works well for them.
Also, check the link shared earlier; there is a ton of information there.

I'm thinking of doing a pure straw run, no experience with hay, some folks don't know the difference and get them confused.  Be cool to see a straight HAY run, I'm going to play with shoebox low-budget style until I clear up some room to put up the GH tent.  I'm just getting back to this, so I'm in an experimental mood these days, don't care about fruits since that's usually a given to some degree, and I don't need ounces, so PLAY on folks.  Different goals to hopefully... the finish line!

Having tried off and on for a year, I have had zero luck growing pans.  Not exactly zero - I did manage to get three whole fruits once.

I’ve read a lot of if not all the TEKs. I’ve used primarily a dreamer tub to fruit but cannot get it dialed in (usually ends up saturating the substrate). Have tried AIO bags/jars and grain to spawn. Nothing has worked.

I currently have 300ml of TTBVI LC that I made and about 7 ml of an MSS.

My current plan is to try cakes with 1:1:1 verm, black kow BRF, plus some chopped straw. I plan to use about 10 MLs LC per pint jar. I will probably use the LC rather than the MSS because the MSS seems clean but really diluted (no visible spores and streaking on agar yields growth only a couple, if any places).

I then plan to use a water tub in a temp controlled grow room I have to fruit.

This sound like a good plan? Any alternatives that are more likely to yield something?

I recently got a sample of these free from a provider. I came here asking the basics first:

1) Does the substrate have to contain manure?
2) If yes, how much?
3) Is everything else the same in terms of cultivation (inoculation, transfer to monotub, etc)?

link

Much appreciated!

I made this small jar (PF tek style) a month ago which is basically a typical CV substrate but with around 10-20% manure (store bought dried manure bovine bellets).

The mycelium is taking its time to grow, it's been over a month and this is the progress it's made, although it still grows day by day. Any ideas on what to do? Shall I just continue being patient?

I have this monotub of TTBVI going. Its now on the 3rd day in fruiting conditions colonizing the 50/50 casing. I try to keep small beads of water all over it.

It has quite a bit of overlay tho. I tried to increase fae when I first saw it was starting to overlay but It didnt change anything.

Do you think It will still fruit fine? Is there anything more I can do?

Cyans in an unmodified 7L shoebox. The latches are up and the lid sits on top which creates a small gap around the perimeter. This was an experiment from the get go, and initially I tried to fruit it with the lid off and a mister blowing on it 24/7, but I screwed that up and the substrate completely dried out. I rehydrated it, put the lid on, and it recovered nicely. Pins have really started popping in the last day or two. Fruits look kind of wonky but I believe that is a light issue. Nothing special about this culture, I am going to clone one of these fruits and give it another go. Substrate is 60:40 - coir:manure. More specifically 3:1:1 - coir:Black Kow:horse poop. I collected the horse poop from a local hiking trail. There is an open field section of the hike with horse patties everywhere and most are bone dry and ready to use immediately.

Could you say more about your setup, tent? Looks like you have a cool setup in the top left of your photo!

Those are some nice fruits, looks yellow like straw, but hay can be all sorts of colors, I'm used to green around here.  Looks like a unicorn grow bag I use for woodie edible blocks.  Well developed caps... OH Yeah!

Yeah that tub is a pretty common setup, with a few slight variations. Its just a tub with a heated pool of water at the bottom, via aquarium heater. I have 4 trays of bulk substrate elevated above the water and I have a mister with a hose connected just below the trays. This is a recent change I made because I dont want air / mist blowing directly on the sub or fruits. That black hose you are seeing is not doing anything. That is where the mister was initially connected but I did not like it blowing down on the fruits. I should just remove the hose and tape that hole shut. Now the mist rises up from below and does not disturb the microclimate as much. Mister comes on for 10 min every 2 hours.

I have holes drilled low all around, about 1.5" above the sub. Micropore tape is covering some holes to adjust airflow as needed. The lid has 0.25" holes in a grid pattern and stays on upside down for more passive airflow. I have the heater set to 85 which maintains an air temp of about 80 at all times. I still mist the substrate by hand as needed, maybe once per day, and the automated mister keeps things from drying out during the day while I am away. Once the pins are set, I really dont have to mist anymore and it's all automated.

I can take some pictures of the outside and inside later when I get home if you want.

Hi all,

Is this a normal growth timeline for TTBVIs?

I heard these usually grow in clusters, is it normal for the first flush to start out like this? They were spawned in 4lb Manure Mix to 2lb Millet, 12/13 days ago, colonized by day 5, had 3-4 tiny pins on the edges that aborted after casing on day 8. Day 13: 5x solid pins that showed up yesterday and are now about a 1/2-1in length, and a new pin on the edge that popped up overnight.

What do you guys think?

Thanks, mush love!

Edit: forgot to add the pic lol

Update: 5hrs later there were 5 additional pins sprouting up across the surface so it seems to be doing great and probably just had a little lag because of the late casing.

Looks like a grow tent (SCROG currently in progress, and other Gorilla tent juliet maters) with reflective sides, damn I can't wait to put up the GH in a few weeks to a month.  No room currently, but all good, I'll play with tubs for a bit, go back to the basics of figuring out what they want, and not what you think they need.

Bacterial blotch!

India spore dump.

And likely real tropicalis pin.  I will scope them and share prints if the metuloids match up with the holotype and workman's microscopy.  But I haven't broken out the champagne yet.
