My experience is contrary to most people's. When I pour with my PDA mix I get beautiful crystal clear plates but when I pour with LME mix it's kinda cloudy. And I've got a rather large amount of lme for the amount I use so.... Yay.

I have done no pour several times but now I just stick my petris in the oven to sterilize then and pour them like my plastic disposable petris. The amount of condensation I get on the borosilicate dishes is insane when I do no pour.

Also I am not going to buy anymore, I've dropped plate tops and bottoms and when that shit shatters it's not like a normal drinking glass it sends shards everywhere, super fine splinters. I still pour into them whenever I pour my regular plates to save on plastic waste but for the moment my fav is just pouring into disposable dishes.

75mm plates  fit perfectly in a regular sized jar and 60mm for in those little cute ones. I pour, wait a couple days to check for contams, then put them in a Ziploc (to remove them easier) and jar them up for future use.

When I used pda I think I did 2% agar, 2% potato starch, 1% dextrose.

I moved on to lme and the only time it got cloudy was when I tightened the bottle cap completely.

Usually I put aluminum foil over the opening and I screw the cap on about 80-90% of the way. The agar comes out perfectly clear.

No,was thinking I should at least unlatch it so there is some FAE, but so new to this im clueless

No,was thinking I should at least unlatch it so there is some FAE, but so new to this im clueless


Unlatch it and turn the lid upside down. You need some fresh air.

QQ,    Does anyone know if tampanensis ATL7 spores have a short viability lifespan with regards to spores? Have a print that is almost a year old.  Thanks:thumbup:

People have said they have grown from spore prints/swabs multiple years old. If stored properly.

A veritable Frankenstein of my own creation!!

Originally about 10 jars of colonized pktek that wouldn’t fruit, I threw about a ton of rye on top and some leftover liquid culture and it just, happened? Had some yucky water pooling on the top end, wicked it up and put some more grain in, this time sterilized. It’s a regular ecosystem in there and I’m not sure if it’ll fruit or poop out. Still the mycelium seems strong so maybe it’s worth just carving it up and transferring it to some uncolonized tubs.

What do you think? Will it bear fruit?

There are about 10 different kinds of mold there. The dark grey stuff is cladosporium.

There is that much vegetation *before* you introduced a 12/12 fruiting cycle?

That tub looks ROUGH. I would dump it but if its your first attempt you can learn alot from it but at best you might get some fruits but this should be quarantined
